Sick to my stomach...

What Goldwire did was uncalled for and unacceptable. He is really lucky they didn’t eject him. I know in this kind of situation emotions can run high, but when you know they have to foul to get a shot to win, you let them foul. Hell, for that matter, flop for them. What Goldwire did should have never happened and he should have used his head a little bit more. All I can say is I hope we run the table in Cincy.

Goldwire actually made another really boneheaded play. At the end of regulation, he dribbled into a double team on the sideline and turned it over. That was nearly disastrous.

I can’t pick up the broadcast. Did anyone hear Bobby’s post-game comments.

Yep. This was undoubtedly one of the worst losses of games that we had ā€œwonā€, EVER.
I said earlier today in the ā€œgamedayā€ thread here that I had a feeling we’d be in position to win at the end. We were, but didn’t. Lee blew it BIG TIME. We got FTs and blew that too. We got the rebound on ā€œthatā€ play with the lead and the first foul was on THEM. Then Lee does his Lutz act and we’re screwed.

OK. On to sincy to get a bid. We can still do it.

I'm sorry, grabbing the back of someones jersey and yanking them backwards is clearly NOT basketball. Its a technical foul. Not a basketball foul. Thats the difference, and its a big one.
Like I said, he did more than just grab and pull...

Bobby did the P.C. thing that most coaches do. He didn’t place the blame and talked about how the team played, and how disappointing this loss was. The usual. You could tell in his voice that he didn’t want to talk at the moment and actually at the beginning he didn’t really have the voice to talk.

If Lee hadnt swung the elbows should that not have been a flagrant foul by GW… why was it not called when Lee did swing? GW was not playing the ball and he had a fist full of jersey.

My tivo said it should have been 2 technicals, or offsetting penalties… Wait a minute this isn’t the NFL, or is it?

I believe someone else brought it up but Hall could have been trying to push Lee’s button. Having Lee get a T was about the only thing that could have lost the game for us at that point.

Often, the instigator of a hard foul gets a break while the guy who retaliates get the T.

Goldwire let Hall get to him at the worst possible moment.

Normally it is the guy who retaliates who gets the foul or penalty or whatever in any sport, but they reviewed the play. How do you miss what Hall does there? Thats what I hold the refs accountable for. Unacceptable.

My understanding is you can not use the monitor to call new fouls. If this is true why did they even go to the monitor if the T had already been called???
Like I said, he did more than just grab and pull…
I’m not disagreeing with you. I’m just saying the grabbing and pulling of a jersey from behind alone is more than a personal foul.

Lee’s elbow off the missed shot was accidental, then he was grabbed, & turned around. If someone holds you, & you turn around, an elbow will result because they’re so close. Why was he close enough for a turning around man to hit him, because he held? Why not a damn double t? What a croc of bs.
GW knows they were lucky. If both of us get to the title game, those puss**s are dead meat. We proved by the 11-point comeback that we own those bitc*es!

This is a part of the AP write up on the game.

"The Colonials got a huge break in the final 10 seconds of overtime when Charlotte was assessed with a technical foul. Maureece Rice missed a short jumper in traffic with the score 84-82. Charlotte got the rebound, but play was stopped because of an altercation between the 49ers’ Leemire Goldwire and GW’s Mike Hall with 5.7 seconds left.

Officials reviewed video of the play for several minutes. Hall was called for a foul, and Goldwire was given a technical. De’Angelo Alexander made one of two free throws for Charlotte, and Hall made both free throws for GW. The Colonials were awarded possession, setting up the dramatic finish."

Is it just me or does that not sound legit at all? Wasn’t the DA foul the reason play was stopped? Yea, we got screwed.

If Hall was called for a foul (as AP story says), then Leemire would have shot the free throws. DA had already been fouled so it’s a dead ball. Then Hall commits the flagrant followed by retaliation. Hall actually wasn’t called for anything. BS although Leemire’s elbows were worthy of a tech.

Thats not true. The officials did say the GW foul was on Hall. Thats why it makes no sense that DA was on the line.

the foul with DA was called before anything was called for the Lee/Hall skirmish. Unless Hall magically held Lee and fouled DA at the same time.

Very well put…plain and simple we got screwed!

Correct if the officials are going to take the time to review the play then there should have been no call or double technicals. Grabing a players jersey in the NCAA is an automatic technical foul period!
Goldwire’s play is the worst in crunch time in 49er history. Even if he was mugged, he should have held his temper.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS EXPECT? Most of the players are more mature than the coach. Lutz lost more games than Leemire.

Funny, he’s won more games than any coach in school’s history…
