Skip Prosser Tribute

Death sucks. It said on Espn he died jogging, & he had flown back from Orlando today. I don't think it's healthy to physically assert yourself the same day you fly. I wonder if that's what caused a heart attack?

Well put

Woah! Where did you hear this!!!

Kiddin. Theres a thread called “Skip Prosser Tribute” which is the same as this thread. Only 2 hours earlier.

Tis sad though.

there’s the story on foxsports.

Apparent heart attack.

He was a good coach, it’s sad to see someone so well liked and respected go so early.

Edit: Didn’t scroll down to see the tribute… woops.

Oops, sorry about that. I didn’t see it down there.

Some sad stuff though. The WF message board has probably a hundred Prosser threads

I will have to admit that when someone dies while running, it always gets my attention. A friend of mine died last year while taking his morning run on the beach near Wilmington. Sad, sad, sad…

Wow, I had no idea and cant believe it.

I attended a luncheon with him when I was living in Winston. Seemed very warm and had a great sense of humor. Seemed like a good man and a good coach.

RIP.

From WXII…
Mike Muse, the director of basketball operations at Wake Forest, said he found Prosser on a couch in the coach’s office Thursday afternoon. He tried to administer CPR.

A Wake Forest basketball player told WXII 12’s Dave Goren that he saw Prosser running at 11:30 a.m.

He was rushed to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Some of the W-S locals may remember Muse as a former assistant basketball coach at Appalachian State and as a football coach at R J Reynolds and most recently as boys basketball coach at North Forsyth.

Also, as of approximately 4:40 pm, his wife had not been notified of his death. She was on the way to Louisville to see family.

Today we as Niners must be there for our neighbor. Through prayer and great collegiate athletics throughout the state and nation, we the Wake family will become stronger.

God bless the Prosser family though this difficult time.

There is talk of a midnight vigil and/or a tribute tissue rolling of the trees in the Quad tonight. I think I’ll be there if they do so.

I could care less what team he represented…Skip was a hellova great person.

Especially given the recent spectrum of sports stories around the world, we need more Skip Prossers, not fewer.

O’ Here’s to Wake Forest
A glass of the finest
Red ruby rhenish filled up to the brim
Their sons they are many
Unrivaled by any
Who’s hearts overflowing we will sing a hymn
Rah, Rah, Wake Forest, Rah
Old Alma Mater sons are we
We’ll herald the story and die for her glory
Old Gold and Black is ever waving high.

I respectfully say this…
but he was not the president of the US or a statesman. He was a sports coach.

sad news for sure,
but I am not understanding all the reverance. I would understand it if he was a legend somewhere for decades- Dean Smith, K, Katy, Pat Summit, etc

I’ve seen alot bigger tragedies in sports the last year, and not near this response.

I think a big part of that is that Niner fans can relate a little more to this loss. I guess it just hits home more since Wake is right up the road and a program we’re all very familiar with. Some regulars here even attend a lot of Wake basketball games. And of course, we’ve faced Skip recently and had hoped to face him again this upcoming season. That and he’s just an all-around great guy.

I think the thread is warranted but yes, there have certainly been other significant losses this year in the sporting world.

RIP Coach Prosser. He was a good coach and a great man
