Slow start to season

X and Job, I hope you are right about the Hype on campus. Glad to hear about the other sporting events.

My post wasn’t meant to be negative, just stating my perspective as an alumnus that closely follows the program. I would expect students to be aware of MM - but is anyone else? Your comment about Davidson reaching out to the community - well - think about it.

Many post have backed up my comments and I am pretty sure that Showdawg is not a Davidson Alum.
I know that Davidson is taking advantage of a unique situation, as they should be. Nothing wrong with this, just the way it is.
They are reaching out past the students which is the key point.
1) $500 a pop is affordable for few to play golf. I know it’s for charity, but it’s about 12.5 times what a normal round costs.
The alumni tournament is $125 a pop. Obviously it’s more than a normal round of golf, but considering the food you get (light breakfast and good lunch) and the $70 wind jacket they gave out this year, I think it’s a pretty good value.

Oh Dang I forgot about that jacket, its SWEET!!!

Its well worth that 70$

good thing I didn’t play. My wife would’ve killed me if I came home with another jacket.

From working the Wachovia Championship the past 5 years, I have:

 • navy blue zip front jacket.
 • light blue zip front jacket (worn under protest during the year they were issued and never worn since)
 • green zip front jacket
 • navy blue wind jacket
 • navy blue golf vest

all items are Polo and were included when I signed up as an Ambassador.

Thankfully, last year’s jacket can now be used for subsequent years. Buying a jacket is now optional. Of course, that was before the Wachovia/Wells Fargo deal…now they will likely make me buy another jacket with the new logo on it and fill up my closet even more.

my goal was to stay off the board until basketball season started, but this is ridiculous so i have to post.

bigtime, there have been more patrons at the other sporting events than there have been in a long time. there have been student sections at men’s and women’s soccer games, chanting, cheering, singing, and making a ruckus all year. its been like 104 at soccer games. the lines to get priority points after the volleyball and soccer games have been, at times, 250+ students long. men’s soccer is averaging over 1000 in attendance. the campus is buzzing about midnight madness and the turn out will be awesome. the roof is going to come off.

the fact that stephanie has a trading card shouldnt surprise you: flavor of the month. if you expected anything other than ACC or SEC schools at carowinds, you’re kidding yourself.

i cant vouch for anything about the alumni golf tourney.

but, rest assured, this season is going to be amazing. lots of niner gear on campus. return of 49er fire. its going to be amazing. get hype.:49ers:

They had 49er Fire last year. It was just indoors and sort of lame. I have the improbably ugly t-shirt to prove it.

lol are you serious!? haha I completely missed that… where was it held?

Could of swore they cancelled that… wow…

Just wait until your son "takes" you to an Underoath/Saosin/The Devil Wears Prada concert, which is what happened to me over the weekend! :hammer:

Devil Wears Prada is awesome. Underoath is good too. How was the show?

Yes, I was confused between this and the 49er Club outing that is $2500 per team ($625/person). That price is ridiculous. The $500 per team is not far above what most charity golf tourneys cost. The sad thing is, I knew nothing about it. If it was in the UNC Charlotte Magazine I completely missed it. Anyways, disregard my earlier comments about the expense. They should be applied to the 49er Club outing.

1. Alumni Golf Tournament was the smallest crowd I have ever seen . I left a few minutes early - but I never heard anyone speak( coach, AD?) as in the past It basically seemed like a basic get together with friends for golf.
I didn't play this year. That's where the problem was. :shades:

So true Over40, I looked for you and couldn’t believe you didn’t make it.

Judging by the emoticon (and the fact that he’s not a middle/high school student), it was probably pretty horrible.

Judging by his avatar, it appears as though he likes Underoath.

National is definitely right about me not being a middle/high school student! Actually, the show wasn’t bad. Yes, it was loud, but a lot of energy and good rapport between the bands and the crowd (a sellout). Of course, my 16 year old son would give it a more glowing review! As far as the avatar, sometimes it reflects me, sometimes my children.
