Smashing Pumpkins tickets-- Orange Peel, Asheville

I would give my left testicle to see them live, but I won’t pay $200 per ticket. Anyone have a spare or 2 that they want to sell at a reasonable profit? Also willing to trade my testicle.

Thanks

Not to rain on your parade, but I was a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan in HS and college, and when I saw them at the Charlotte Hornets arena on the Melencoly tour, they completely sucked ass. I think Billy Corgan was basically trying to run people off or something. Also, his voice sounds horrible live. So just be warned they might not live up to the hype if you’ve never seen them live. By the way, when the hell did they get back together.

I think it is just Billy and the drummer.

Are pumpkin tickets running 200 dollars??? WTF!!! I like the pumpkins but come on…I wont pay 200 bucks for anybody but maybe Zepplin…and they’d have to dig up bonzo for me to think about it!

btw…welcome to the board 49timesthelovin

That is correct, the show is sans Iha and D’Arcy. So I think that makes them Stomping Pumpkins… not quite Smashing.

thank you, btw the tickets sold out in five minutes.

if you could pick any guitarist and bassist other than the original members to play with the pumpkins, who would you pick?

Bootsy!!! Thats a good answer. Really good fit for Wes though, Limp Bizkit wasnt as a big of a joke as they are now when he was there.

The Pumpkins used Melissa Auf der Maur before when D’arcy left so it wouldn’t be a stretch to see her again since she did offer.

Hey Sideshow, unless the person you buy them from is willing to escort you in, good luck getting in with tickets bought from a scalper.

PLEASE NOTE: Tickets for both shows will be available through internet ONLY. Tickets will NOT be available at either box offices, charge-by-phone or ticket outlets. Two-ticket limit per person. Purchaser must pick up tickets at the box office night-of-show only. Ticket-holders must immediately enter the venue. Photo ID required for ticket pick-up. Tickets are non-transferable. No refunds or exchanges. A service charge is added to each ticket price.

I saw them in '97 or so at the Charlotte Coliseum with Fountains of Wayne. It was okay. Billy Corgan spent much of the time railing against some local writer who recently gave him a bad revue. ‘See, all of you being here shows theat we’re great, Write blah blah doesn’t understande my privileged commercialy driven angst, tonigh, etc. etc.’ I quit being a fan not long after.

Saw them in 1990 or so @ The Metro in Chicago. No one knew who they were, but they rocked pretty hard in a smaller venue. Saw them 2 more times at festivals and the deficiencies of Billy’s voice and a sloppy live show between bandmates that weren’t getting along ruined it.

Seriously Sideshow, just go see Silversun Pickups. Same genre of music, but they’re better at the moment. Billy’s time is over. He made some amazing studio albums 10-15 years ago, but he’s almost a parody of himself anymore.

He is way too serious about himself at this point. He was flop without the pumpkins, and I doubt he is gonna get any better.

N/A, in the unlikely case you didn’t see it, Wilco is playing at Ovens Auditorium (33 bucks). And Low is opening. Talk about a better deal.

I was never really able to gt into the pumpkins. They had a few good songs, but for the most part I thought they were over rated.

Going to see Derek Trucks at the Visulite this Saturday though.

craig - I’m annoyed at Jeff Tweedy for the new album. It’s derivate old fart rock. I just cant get into thew new album. And bad taste in my mouth from last year’s Ovens show. Jeff needs to take some happy pills this time.

max - hopefully you got a chance to listen to all the cuts off the album instead of the radio hits. corgan wrote some really good songs, and they didn’t all sound the same. Mellon Collie was all over the place in a good way.

yeah, i have listened to a good bit of their stuff. siamese dream was ok. i think billy corgan’s voice just kind of annoys me though.

Drown is one of my favorite songs of all time. Man, I miss the seattle grunge days.

I think it is just Billy and the drummer.

So why isn’t the tour the “Billy Corgan” tour? With the original, good, drummer dead, there’s nobody left but the frontman.
