I don’t care what they say, he wasn’t offside.
The officiating in this tournament has been transparent in its attempts to benefit certain teams.
Looks pretty clear to me. The current offsides rule may be too strict - like what sort of advantage does he have here - but the chip/ball combo and speed that refs are making decisions has been refreshing compared to Premier League.
clt says eliminate offsides!!! goals, goals, goals!

This is absurd. That player believed he was onside as well. This isn’t like the NFL where you have a big fat white sideline to tip toe around. You have to make a snap judgment in the hectic flow of play on unmarked ground. This kind of thing is going to make attackers play 5 yards onsides fearing this crap, which will limit goal scoring opportunities even more (cue all the 0-0 snore fest remarks). Meanwhile there is already a movement to ease off sides rules already.
That goal should have counted. This is bad for the sport. Unless maybe it does cause us to rethink the rules.
Go back to even is on, and judging by center mass of the body, not your finger or your hair.
For people who didn’t see it, here is a backside replay of the goal. This is the angle that looks the most offsides… And it still doesn’t look offsides. You have to watch it in the run of play. This was just great football by Colombia (a team I don’t even really care about).
