A great WC and a fitting final. It was nice to sit back and enjoy the match, without a major rooting interest. Messi already is a WC champion, and now Spain, with its 8 Barca players, is also WC champion. I am going to miss the camaraderie this WC brought out amongst fans from all over the planet. Just goes to show how much social media lies to us. There isn’t quite anything like the WC.
The fans coming in to watch the games and experience our country was a lot of fun to see. I will admit I have watched way too many YouTube videos and clips of folks like that. It’s infectious positive energy.

FIFA raking it in like that doesn’t sit that well. Wish they would return most of that money to developmental leagues / programs.
Per the president, Insights and Analytics, FOX Sports and FOX Entertainment, World Cup viewership even higher than reported by Charlotte-based Sports Business Journal.
How on Earth are MLS, Premier League, La Liga, etc. teams able to make it through matches without hydration breaks???
FIFA MUST INVESTIGATE!!
Yep, would probably hire that Chicago law firm that “investigated” Michigan athletics. ![]()
The premier league has protocol for hydration breaks, but it is only used in August/May when temps are higher in England. The issue with the hydration breaks is how they were mandated for all matches, even indoors, to be consistent. Playing a match at noon in NYC in 97 degree heat should trigger a hydration break, but indoors in the AC in Dallas should not.
It allows for more commercials.
I really need to work on my sarcastic / mocking tone when I type ![]()
FIFA just discovered heroin with those hydration breaks. They aren’t ever going back. I hate that organization so much. ![]()

. The pinnacle of corruption in sports, though the IOC tries to one up them every 4 years.
Thought this was an interesting graphic. Keep in mind that this is just in America. Worldwide, the world cup final match drew well over 1 billion (probably closer to 2 billion) and the entire world cup tournament drew 6 billion.

Still for the USA, this was very healthy viewership. I bet the networks cannot wait to have it here again. Especially with those stupid hydration breaks. The irony is that I bet they’ll do mostly closed roof / controlled environment venues next time, and still have the hydration breaks.
