I can’t believe how badly the “prevent defense “ worked for England. England vs. Spain would have been tremendous.
Watching this right now makes me sick… Kane, Bellingham and Gordon aren’t even playing for England.
England vs Spain would have been a much much better match than the fraud Argentina team. The problem is, half the reason England aren’t in is due to their dumbass manager’s decision to bunker.

Sounds to me like attacking is a better option than defending. Sort of like a 2 minute drill versus a prevent defense. But what the heck do I know.

If soccer was really like this all the time, USA would adopt it in a min. It felt like I was watching an NBA all star game. The same reason the Hurricanes Stanley Cup run had the highest TV ratings, Lots of scoring. If there is scoring, not “nil nil” and grown men rolling on the ground like they have been shot in Vietnam, the USA audience would adopt this like crazy. Great match though

The refs are letting Argentina get away with their usual crap, but Spain should be winning anyway.

Well deserved for Spain.
My griping about Argentina aside, I remain incredibly impressed by Spain’s team defense. They literally would not let anyone shoot on them. Every time they were beaten one-on-one the defense would collapse on the ball and win it back immediately. They’re incredible.
3 hours of my life wasted. I would have rather watched a pot boil. What a boring match.

For the casuals… That’s shots not shots on goal. They couldn’t even manage a shot that went sailing over the goal or way wide left or right. Let alone one that the GK had to save. I mean, you can just launch the ball from midfield and that’s technically a shot. Absolute futility.
