Little confused. Who has won very little? Lambert was part of 4 straight bowl wins at Georgia (best run in school history) and 4 FCS national championship runs at Marshall, as well as arguably the most successful run ever at Wake. Mullen was part of the same run at Wake as well as an average of 9 wins a year at WVU. Yes, Wake had a bad year defensively, but the Wake offense probably had more 3 and outs than they had in the last decade. Just sayin
I think it is more that once they had hire profile jobs (offensive and defensive coordinator respectively), they have under achieved compared to the success achieved at the same program when they were just position coaches.
Is very true - but we have 2 years before winning even matters and whoever we hire has to be able to take those two years and increase interest, support and giving without winning or losing.
Short of NCās or Super Bowl rings, unless these guys have confetti shoot out of their asses every time they fart, it will be a massive failure as far as some are concerend. The reality is that you canāt eat Filet Mignon on a McDonalds budget, our pool is going to be made up of guys like this, or former ānamesā who are looking for one last hoorah⦠(Not saying these guys are crap by any means*) Iām not going to be so quick to judge based on where a guy coached last season. Hell, Iām loving the resume diversity with these recent names- you learn at every stop and these guys have worked under some good coaches at BCS schools.
The names donāt bother me as much as it isnāt done yet⦠This coach should be 4 to 6 weeks into their job already. This search is like being 8 and not getting to open your Christmas presents till Easter.

Support and giving, I donāt know, it sounds like he burned a few bridges at NCSU. I wonder though if the administration just assumed heād be too expensive. If thatās the case, they still should have at least touched base with him to make sure.
Donāt know much about the other two guys, Lambert and Mullen. They might be good coaches, but they donāt strike me as wow hires. Does it not matter at all if weāre competitive the first two years? Iād think it would help to be playing other teams tough. And recruiting will be very difficult as a brand new program.
Thursday night i shouted that if Lambert were the guy, Mullen would be the OC. I have a knack for calling things.
I am actually pretty excited about Mullen. THought of him as a coaching candidate honestly once he got fired.
West Virginia was 2nd in Total Offense in the Big East. The reason he was fired was because Bill Stewart was essentially fired. The AD hired Holgorson behind Bill Stewartās back IIRC, and will replace Stewart after this season. West Virginia thinks pretty highly of itself, the Pat White years didnāt help things. They had to replace Rich Rodriguez, who coincidentally was fired this season too.

Dude, youāre ruining the excuses that apologists are trying to make here.
Looking forward to tonights game and pregame to see whatās up. I like what Iāve read today.
bump
So can we confirm the identity of āFutureOC1025ā as Jeff Mullen? Heās been promoting Brad Lambertās name for 4 weeks now. Iām curious to know what was said in the āCongrats are in order!ā thread, but I donāt have a Wake Forest rivals subscription.

Trash talk is a good thingā¦if they really believed we would suck and not have a chance they wouldnāt take the time to bash us.
i never knew people trashed talked other schools for starting sports programsā¦
well, i know now
Those Wake fans can be difficult at times. Most of them are ok but a few of them have always seemed to have chip on their shoulder.

Most of the folks over there seem good to go, but that racer guy is a definite tool.
Well the Racer guy does sound like a heās a Nascar guy so being a tool is a given.
Actually I have several State friends who were/are still big Amato fansā¦one is pretty high up in the Wolfpack Club. CHuck even came to his place of business twice while he was HC.
Seems Judy bought into 1-2 people ripping into Chuck instead of doing her ādue diligenceā.[/quote]
I was never big on the fan boy approach. Of course your friends like Amato, he was buddies with them. A lot of people will go a far way to back an underachieving coach if they think they are āfriendsā with them. We see that all the time.

Well, yes but that was my point. They werenāt friends of his until he coached there and reached out to them. One of the big criticisms of Amato was that he supposedly ticked off a lot of their big donors by not ābowing downā enough and this clearly shows he atleast didnāt do that to all of them. He spent 45 minutes to an hour on each visit to my āfriendsā place of businessā¦just saying.
