Spiders take down ACC team if football

ECU could, quite literally, be the best program in the state. If we move quickly to FBS there is no reason in the current conditions why we couldn't become the best program in the state in 20 years.
I think they'd make a terrific, but cooperative, rival (enemies on the field but friends politically). Passionate fanbase that understands the **** burger we get served up regularly from the Triangle folks.

The problem with most ECU fans is that they think the Big East will call any day now so they don’t see the need to team up with anyone. Most I have encountered think our football effort is dead and think higher of App or Elon then us. They (not all, but most) don’t understand that football is only a small item on a greater list of problems and that these two schools (football excluded) have in common and could help each other with. I know why we don’t play them in basketball a lot but if we want them to accept us and play our football program regularly, we’ll have to find a way to get them on the BBall schedule almost yearly.

Agreed..........
ACC football....its terrible. Really.
Not according to Wake fans sitting around me during Wake's loss to Baylor on Saturday.

And the 5 unc-chapel hill fans sitting behind me at that game mentioned on numerous occasions (and quite loudly) that they think the tarholes will return to “national prominence” in football this year. I was having trouble concentrating on the game because I was laughing so hard. One of the ladies mentioned at least 15 times (very loudly) that she went to school in chapel hill, and why she kept saying it is beyond me. It seemed the only reason they were there was to irritate Wake fans.

that would be the opinion a large amount of people that are not associated with the effort (if you want to call it that), and is part of the problem.
Agreed…

Did they really use the words “national prominence”? IMO,they are always prominent, sort of like a big ole wart on the national nose. Sadly, given their schedule, they will likely win quite a bit this year and we will endure the media overhype that’s gonna come with that. Sigh…

UNI is not a lowly 1-AA team. They’ve been in the final 4 or 8 most of the last couple of years. I’m actually shocked the didn’t pull it off like App.
App almost came back vs. Ecu.
In Duke’s defense, Richmond is the defending 1-AA champ.

I refuse to use that FBS/FCS crap. It’s 1-A/1-AA.

If you schedule a lower division, it should be an exhibition win. Just make concessions off your fans & have fun. Of course if you lose, it should count against you. It can be the UF-CSU rule.
We’re playing JCSU of D2 in an exhibition in Nov. While the win won’t count, if we lose, it should. Because you shouldn’t lose, period.

Wake usually stinks, Duke always stinks, State & Carolina, most years we could be 3rd behind ECU & App w/out having a team!

ECU has enough pull to make the 16 campus system be 2 1/2 schools instead of 2, so they don’t need us. Of course if they got tired of being the 1/2, & wanted to be equal to State & Carolina, then they’d be willing to work with the other 13.

All FCS teams are lowly. It will continue as such until the gap between FBS and FCS is dissolved.

The reason they split DI into two subdivisions in the late 70’s was because schools like Texas and Florida would schedule schools that now occupy the lower half of FCS for all of their OOC games and still get to claim National Championships because the pollster are in the major conferences’ pockets, like today.

So now half of Division I is relegated to a lesser division because the NCAA refused to fix the problem in the late 70’s?

Which problem, there’s so many in FBS football?
Which problem, there’s so many in FBS football?
No, that the national champion was, and still largely is, determined by a group of men with pens.

Are the U presidents still getting multi-million dollar checks?
Are the U presidents still getting multi-million dollar checks?
Depends on which U.

Florida? Hell yeah!

Northern Iowa? Doubt it.

most 1AA schools want to be there, it keeps cost down

Guess who’s opinion counts more?
Guess who’s opinion counts more?
Of course. And the juggernaut keeps on rolling!

Know your place, little schools.

Gee… what does that sound like?
most 1AA schools want to be there, it keeps cost down
Ding ding ding ding!!!
most 1AA schools want to be there, it keeps cost down
They don’t have to spend any more.

I’m just saying, don’t hold back the schools who are currently limited as to their success. As it stands, Duke > Richmond. No matter the on-field results, Duke at least has, by rule, the opportunity to compete for the Sears Trophy. The best Richmond can do is a plaque.
