For the first time in four years we have won in March (2-1).
20 wins and we did it the hard way. The year-end slide and so many losses being 20+ point blow-outs hurts, but 20-10 is a little better than I expected. Clearly we have some skill gaps, but with the players that we have how many more games might we have picked up if Braswell and Mayfield had been a little more mature? 2-3 wouldnât surprise me. If so, that probably would have gotten us a bye in the conference tournament and a certain bid to the NCAAs. Ah, what could have been.
It amazes me that Braswell is going to finish here in the top 15 in scoring and is 10 rebounds from the top 5, but has never been to the NCAAs or NIT (yet). Can you think of any other player with those kinds of stats and so little to show for it? We are going to miss him next year, but not going to miss him if you know what I mean.
I hope that we are due a little luck and make some noise in Brooklyn.

Game he has seen in 20 years.
Must of not been in Halton when we scored like 8 or 9 points in the first half against a bad Miss. St. team awhile back.
THOU SHALT NOT SPEAK OF THAT GAME!
1st niner game I ever took my wife to. She was not impressed with sports to begin with.
How awesome was that, him putting the finishing touch on Senior Night with that 3-ball (and our only one of the night). Was great seeing the players celebrating with him afterwards.
This team stepped up big time tonight. I know the offense wasnât great, but when you hold a team to 40 you can forgive things like this. The team came out for the second time and got a lot of easy looks at the basket and converted, the passing between Braswell and Clayton was amazing. E Vicâs give and go w/ Braswell also got me to stand up.
I hope something has awoken in this team, reminds me a lot of 2007-08 when we dropped 3 out of 4 in late February then closed out conference play with three straight, then got two more in Atlantic City.
If we can maintain this defensive intensity (What were there, four shot clock violations on the Hawks?) and Brothers doesnât score 39 again, the Spiders are a beatable team and I really, REALLY want another shot at Saint Louis. We gave them a close game until the end, want to see what happens if they arenât getting the homecooked charges when they flop. Cody Ellis is the scum of the Earth.
Oh, they are calling for Phil to be fired on the Saint Joeâs bored⌠because of us!
Such a hard game to watch. One would think if we had played a team like UMass or La Salle we would have lost. And Iâm aware we already best those teams at home this season.
Now onto Richmond. Not that we were great on the road, but the Spiders are just 3-10 away from home this season and their only conference road win was at Fordham. I think playing in the Great Alaska Shootout will work in our favour here. Just donât know if we have enough offense to win though
I was there and it wasnt pretty but give our guys some credit. They could have folded on the road at the Dukes and just finished the season on a long losing streak, but they showed some fight in these games.
I thought our D, esp on the perimeter looked better than it has in a long while. Clayton looked like he was feeling good again, as he hit half of our field goals (iâm not joking). We won this game by hitting layups and FREE THROWS. Honestly, I think if you saw a shot chart, we did not hit anything outside of the paint all game.
Despite the late season swoon, I would have take 20 wins and 8-8 in conference before the season started. Actually, after we were 12-2 in non conf, I predicted that weâd be 7-9 but Iâd take 8-8 and run with it. Now, I would love to get a win and some payback against Richmond.

umm, MSU was NOT a bad team at all.
That one finished 15-15, so it was. They followed up the win over Charlotte with losses to Southeastern Louisiana and Northwestern State.

Worst team ever. Canât believe we support this.
A couple of people in this thread almost sound this dejected, even though we won and made the tourney.
The kids played solid defense and made freethrows, even though the jumpers werenât falling last night. Thatâs two games in a row theyâve been able to gut-out a win. Itâs a nice way to end the regular season and head into the tourney.

They were not at the time we played them. They were solid and remember the SEC was VERY tough back then. That loss was not seen as a âbad lossâ by anyone at that time.

To be fair, I guess early in the season you never know who the bad teams are and the good teams are because they havenât played very much yet. But, Miss St was not good that year (not that we were great).
I do remember our alot of our crowd booing our players in the first half though. Not sure Iâve ever seen that at Halton except for that one time and I donât advocate itâŚbut it was an unbearable game to watch.

Its not fun unless we lose so we can have 20 pages of gripes about who to blame it on
