Game he has seen in 20 years.
Must of not been in Halton when we scored like 8 or 9 points in the first half against a bad Miss. St. team awhile back.
umm, MSU was NOT a bad team at all.
That one finished 15-15, so it was. They followed up the win over Charlotte with losses to Southeastern Louisiana and Northwestern State.
They were not at the time we played them. They were solid and remember the SEC was VERY tough back then. That loss was not seen as a “bad loss” by anyone at that time.
We were 9 point favorites in that game and lost 53-38. They finished the season 15-15, 5-11 in conference. The following season they finished 9-21 and we lost to them on the road by 9.

They were a bad team.

We need massive help on offense still, but at least our defense is back.

Pretty much my thoughts after catching the second part of the game.

I stick by what I said, they were NOT a bad team—certainly not at the time of the season we played them. The SEC was very good then. A 5-11 team that season in the SEC would have been top half of C-USA even though it was good as well.

No. Just no.

But i guess by that logic we are amazing.

and I guess we were BEYOND horrible last season.

We were 15-15 last year. By your measure a good team.

We were NOT 15-15 last year…are you drunk?

BTW, that MSU team finished with an RPI of 113. Not great, but again certainly not “horrible”. That was only a few spots below us.

I wish.

That was a terrible loss. Worse than any loss this year.

Wow, sure it was…losing by 20+ at GW this year was not worse. :stuck_out_tongue:

I though we played nasty d and won a game of attrition.
However, I can’t think of a jump shot we hit other than Colby’s at the end.

I missed this game, both in person and on the internet broadcast. From reading the posts, it looks like it was one ugly game. That’s ok though, because ugly wins are better than pretty losses and the NCAA and NIT selection committees do not have an “ugly win” factor when deciding who to invite. With that said, are we in the NIT now or do we need to win 1 or 2 more games? I know it depends on what other teams do, but I think we may need 1 more win for the NIT.

Not to say the GW loss wasn’t a bad loss, but they were home and a 2.5 point favorite.

GW was a bad loss, Richmond was a bad loss, only loss close to that one this season was the Dayton one though.

It was indeed the only jumper we hit the entire game. If someone would have told me we were going to win that game without making a jumper when it mattered during the entire game, I would have told them they were nuts. We couldn’t hit the barn, but the intensity was great on D and we got after it down low on offense. I know Big 10 style of basketball is hard to watch sometimes, but not being able to make wide open jumpers has nothing to do with that style. We’ve got to get better at shooting the basketball, period. For the life of me I can’t figure out why St. Joe’s never ran a zone the entire game. They played man the entire time, and pressed a little at the end. When you’re opponent is getting all their points below the blocks or from the free throw line from fouls commited below the blocks and they can’t hit the barn, it’s an obvious sign to switch to a zone.

For any Richmond fans reading this, disregard the previous paragraph.

We haven’t shot THAT poorly all year, with that kind of defense and hitting a few of those jumpers I feel pretty good about getting at least one win in Brooklyn.

I’m conflicted. Is Major a good coach for getting players that can’t shoot a jumpshot to a victory against a relatively good team, or is he a bad coach for having a team that can’t make a jumpshot? :frowning:

To most of us the jury is still out, for some of us Major was a terrible coach the day he was born.
