Tarholes Invade Charlotte

It continues to amaze me how sensitive people are around here. This is not a slap in the face to the 49ers or our program. If UNC wants to scrimmage in an area where they have a ton on alumni, so be it. That is called outreach, which is an extension of marketing. I know we may not be used to that sort of thing coming from our schools AD but it’s not a big deal.

???
Actually, they don’t have near as many actual alumni in Charlotte as you probably (and most people) think. I know our Alumni Association put out a brochure a few years back that says we have more alumni in Charlotte Metro area than NCSU, UNC-CH and ECu combined. I guarantee you that hasn’t changed…You may be right though, perhaps Lambert should schedule a a spring game for us up in Chapel Hill.
Even though they’re alums, they’re probably not “our” fans.

I think our marketing department needs to get on the ball.
Every Charlotte alum is a potential 49ers fan, and they will begin to convert from their ACCishness to true 49ers if given a decent reason to do so. Just Win.

Mallard Creek HS has at least one blue chip football recruit IIRC.

I am not sure if he has committed yet.

Any chance this is a glorified recruiting trip?

100% chance it is a glorified recruiting trip.

Yeah, how is this legal under NCAA rules…?

Nevermind. It’s Chapel Hill.

We should have a bunch of us go just to boo the hell out of them!

students have already planned to take over the tailgate.

I think it is one thing to go to a location for a scrimmage against another team. Why couldn’t they scrimmage another team in Charlotte to draw local fans and recruits. Them having a team scrimmage down the street from our new house is like getting new carpet and that neighbor that you hate coming over and tracking dog s*** on it. These guys are losing scholarships, and they are going to be begging our type of recruits to walk on. They can see us building up our recruiting base in NC and they are trying to squash us while we are small. For me it is a direct attack on our program. Call it sensitive or say that this is what their coach does if you want to. I say we are Charlotte and we shouldn’t sit idle for that garbage team.

I don’t understand wasting time and effort giving them more attention.

Maybe they knew the O would be kinder to them than any paper in the Triangle.

I smell at least 2 or 3 front page stories.

Just win, indeed.

Said it on twitter earlier and I’ll say it again here…

I find it interesting that they did this the year before we kick off our program. Sounds to me like they’re ensuring their football market share.

And if that is in fact the case and not more than our fans just getting their panties in a wad over something uncch really could care less about, I take that as a giant compliment.

Recruits from NC, class of 2015:

Charlotte = 20
App St = 7
NC State = 6
Duke = 5
ECU = 5
UNC-Ch = 5
Wake = 3

uh… before we go tooting our own horn to other schools fans… how many of those 20 are teetering on the edge of being D1 level players? I don’t mean to be a debbie downer, but I don’t think North Carolina is known as a “big recruiting hotbed” for football. Also consider recruiting budgets… if any of those BCS schools are doing their job, they’re trying to hit FL and TX (a little more far fetched) as much as possible… GA isn’t bad either. Addition of FSU to the ACC years back should have made FL recruiting a lot easier too.

Just for your consideration!

The players that UNC wants at Mallard Creek are not ones that Brad Lambert can compete for. How many MC players did Brad offer this year? Their skill players are being recruited to SEC, Big Ten, Big East and ACC schools

Of course our first class is NC heavy; but my point is everyone is making such a big damn deal about 6 or 7 FBS schools in NC and not enough recruits to go around and market saturation blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And right here every school other than us is 60% to 85% non-NC football recruits in the first place.

Comparing startup FCS recruits to BCS recruits is an apples to rocket ships comparison.

Just a little something to hopefully give the “circling helicopters” some rest. Mike Palmieri is a supporter of Charlotte 49ers football.

If you don’t know who he is, may I suggest www.google.com

For those that don’t know, Mike Palmieri is the HC at Mallard Creek HS.

How about this one:

Here in Charlotte, known by some as Chapel Hill South

http://insider.espn.go.com/college-football/blog?name=mcgee_ncf_ryan&id=7690334&_slug_=what-ncaa-ruling-unc-case-means-miami-oregon-ncf&action=login&appRedirect=http%3A%2F%2Finsider.espn.go.com%2Fcollege-football%2Fblog%3Fname%3Dmcgee_ncf_ryan%26id%3D7690334%26_slug_%3Dwhat-ncaa-ruling-unc-case-means-miami-oregon-ncf

Someone from our Athletic Department needs to drop by and set up a booth selling FSLs. I’m sure UNC would not mind.
