When were the team technicals issued? There is one for both Charlotte and Memphis in the Observer, and Jenaās article said no fouls were called in the 2nd half altercation.
I must have missed something from my seat

I hope you saw all the assistant coaches run onto the floor when Nance got into it with a Memphis player, thats when they gave the technicals, I saw a ref give the T sign but they never said which players.
The TV guys said that both team benches were charged with Tās and that they would both count as personal fouls. Why didnāt each team shoot two FTās ?
That whole thing was bizarre.
On the video, you can clearly see the ref T-ing someone up (the Memphidiots swear it was on Lutz, they even posted a 3 sec video clip, lol), but you canāt tell who.
I figured there was going to be a Double T, some FTs for both teams and then play would resume. Instead, they looked at the monitor (can they even do that in that situation, rules wise?) and then made a no-call and let play go on.
The ESPN website shown no technicals for either team, which would explain why no free throws were taken. I agree that it appeared that they could not find anyone to āTā after looking at the replays for about 3 minutes, so they just gave warnings to both coaches/benches.
See the TEAM STAT COMPARISON on the top right.
GO NINERS!!!
The boxscore on the Charlotte49er.com website shows team techs for both teamsā¦
The TV replay that the refs looked at showed only Basdenās dunk, so no Tās could be given. They are allowed to review clock issues, whether or not someone stepped on the out of bounds or three point line, and dead ball incidents. The most likely scenario is that one or more players were Tād, but the refs only saw Nance and the Memphis playing jawing. Of course Memphis fans saw it as Lutz got tād up and the refs took the t away from him because they obviously wanted Charlotte to win.
Bench technical foul calls are so bogus. I am glad they didnāt call one on Memphis or us, just one on each. It can really change the tide of a game, a T on either team. The Memphis broadcasters were convinced Nance was going to get one, if that would of happened at that point, we would of been in trouble.
Also, why we are at it, not in this game, but what ever happened to the intentional foul call, it has been wiped from college basketball landscape.
No foul shots are taken when both teams are charged with a technical foul. I guess it would take to much time to shoot them. Not sure if technicals were called in the game last night but even if they were no foul shots wouldāve been taken.
I believe mightymitch is correct about not shooting FTs on a double tech. Maybe that is what they called. An explanination would have been nice HIH.
So is the consensus of opinion here that the Observer was right that there were technicals on both benches, or that the ESPN stat line is correct and no technicals were assessed?
Personally, Iāll believe ESPN over the Observer any time! (NOT THAT IT MATTERS NOW )
GO NINERS!!!
On double techs nobody shoots free throws. There was a double technical called in the Wake-Duke game and no one shot.
good post trombone drew
Donāt try and tell the Memphidiots that it was a double tech. Theyāre convinced the only tech was called on Bobby and then taken away as part of the conspiracy to defeat them?
