I think in this next draft we really need to get a QB that we could begin grooming for the future.
Tebow is not projected to be an early pick b/c he is not considered a prototypical NFL passer. I would love to see the Panthers snag him with a mid to late round pick. The way our offense is now, we don’t need a prototype passer. We need someone who can run the offense and not make much mistakes (though admittedly I would like to see a lot more out of our QB usage).
Tebow is a winner and a competitor. That stands out to me. He only threw 2 picks this whole season, while throwing for 28 and rushing for 12. How many first round busts are out there who were “prototypes” and failed (Couch, Carr, Boller, etc.)? I like a mid round pick on Tebow.
I like the idea of Tebow as a Panther. Class act guy that would fit the organization well.
Being a fullback would be a waste of his talent. If he really can’t play QB (I think he can though) I would put him at TE before FB. By the way, I am not a Gators fan and actually grew up despising the Gators (grew up in Florida).
I actually think he will end up being used like a hybrid Chris Cooley, where he can line up behind center, like is being done with some WR and RB, and becomes a legit passing option.
I believe he will get a chance at QB first, but I think what I described above is how is career may play out.
Or he could be Steve Young on steriods (not really, but you get what I’m saying)
He is only coming out if he is a 1st rd ick… he isn’t going to be a 1st rd pick as a QB. As a Jr. he can’t play in the post season bowl’s, he’d only have the combine and private workouts. He will be back at Fla next year.
Exactly, Moore needs to be given the opportunity, he knows the system and has an arm.
There are many other positions that we can draft in the first round that are more important. Diggs is getting up there so could use another strong side linebacker.
Hoover is also not going to play forever so we are going to need someone to take his place. And for the life of me I can’t understand why we can’t seem to find a reciever worth a damn not named Smith or Moose.
[B]Tebow as a Panther?

Again, my post is assuming that Tebow will not be a 1st round pick. Again, you are right, he may not go out this year b/c of this. However, I don’t see that changing in 2010 either.
I think he would be a great pick up mid to late rounds.
Considering the crappy players we have drafted, starting in the 2nd round (Jarrett, Shelton, Colbert, and the list goes on) he would be a great pick from the 3rd round on.
Let me first say that I am a Delhomme fan.
When his time is up, however, I will be excited to see what Matt Moore can do for us. He’s performed well with the PT he’s gotten.
I don’t know what you have been watching, but I don’t see Moore as the winner that we need. I’m done with the undrafted free agent QB’s. We need to shoot a draft pick on a QB at some point.
1st Round QB’s this past year have worked well. Imagine if we had Ryan or Flacco.
There are always good QB’s to be had in the mid rounds.
I am happy with Jake, I know thats not the popular move around Charlotte and with many Panther fans. Jake fits our system here perfect, has a great connection with Steve Smith.
I like Matt Moore and I think he could be a strong quarterback when Jake’s time is up. I don’t see us taking Teabow.

I’m fine with Jake for now. I think he probably only has about 2 or 3 seasons max left as a dependable starter for us. It’s good to have a guy in the wings training up and I just don’t think Moore is the guy. If Moore is, he has a LONNNNGGGGG way to go if we want to compete for championships.
I also don’t think Jake has a great connection with Smith. He basically lobs the ball up there and Smith chases it down. There are so many times where if Jake was an accurate passer and could hit a guy in stride (instead of balls thrown high and short) we would have home runs.
Back to the topic though, I predict Tebow will be a QB in the league and will one day be a starter.
Mel Kiper was talking about him on Sportscenter today, he thinks he’s going to be a good HB/TE hybrid. He also pointed out that with the Wildcat formation being in vogue, he can potentially end up doing a lot of the same things in the NFL he is doing now if somebody wants to give him 10-15 snaps as the Wildcat QB every game.
I think he’ll get taken on the first day and somebody will give him a shot to be a QB.
