Excuse my inexperience, but I’m trying to put pix on my posts on these boards but can’t because I suspect my pic file is too big, maybe? Anyway, here’s the deal: I take pix on a digital Canon Rebel XTi. I can download the pix to my PC (Windows Vista), but cannot post them here. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get the pic file the right size, or whatever else, to post them here? Thanks!
Instead of dealing with resizing and what not, it might be easier to just upload them to http://imageshack.us/ and copy/paste the forum code.
also photo bucket has a very user friendly resizing tool.
Thanks. Now, where on that site can I find this? I went to the “tools” link there and could not find a resizing tool.
If you are using XP go here
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/windows-xp
select power toys >> image resizer
after downloading go to the folder with your pictures, select them all and right click and you will see a resize images button

Thanks, but I have Windows Vista.

Ouch…but here you go

I use this all the time on here. Quick and Easy.

once you upload the photo. move the mouse over the picture. you see a tool bar appear at the top left of the photo. one of the tabs is resize. you can select one of the pre selected sizes or click more options and do a custom resizing.
clt says image is everything.

I’ve resized several times all the way down to 40x60, but it will not post here, saying 5000 character limit is exceeded. DUH!
ah, your problem then isn’t the resize of the picture. Its the length of the picture source. So a lot of sites like that and facebook that host pictures have these really long addresses for the picture. I’ve found the best thing to do is to use a good browser which will allow you to separate the picture from the page and just get the picture you want.
or… just use imageshack.us, or maybe tinyurl to shorten the size of the source, although I haven’t used tiny url to post pictures on here before. Imageshack.us is what most posters use.
Ok. I have pix in photobucket and imageshack. Now how do I get them here? (sorry y’all)
Well with imageshack.us, when you upload you’ll see the addresses on the side. Select ‘direct link’. Also, you can right click on the picture and select ‘copy image url’
I’ve copied the url, next?
Paste it in your “message box” and post it. IMHO Photobucket is better than Imageshack.
Here ya go mate. Damn good picture!
Here is the url in case you need it: http://img809.imageshack.us/img809/9281/49erin49erland.jpg

Wow! Thanks! How’d you do that?
I sent you a PM which details it. I guess I could of just posted the process in the thread.
