The email

Don’t you love it? CHP calls a donation of $500 “modest” when only 5.4% of all alumni contribute back to the University. Phil, where are your fundraisers in the Development Office or better yet, what the hell are they doing?

oh the irony.... when the foundation newsletter came out a few months ago with the donor levels, HE AND MY NAME WERE IN THE SAME LEVEL :lmao:

I think we all know where the lump of his salary goes…

Are there any volunteers for a moving party?

Dr. Doob is soo uncool…

Is DuBois really that stupid? How did he rise this high in the academic ranks starting fights w/ alums who give lots of $. $500 is a substantial donation.
If this bastard says no to football, we protest once a week until the bastard is fired.

The fact is, those $100 and $1000 donations are the ones likely to support the ongoing operations of such an undertaking. Sure, 1000 bucks may be difficult to cough up at one time, but I can guarantee you it is a lot easier to garner such a donation once every two-three years than it is to get the really large (1MM+) donations year in and year out.

Do schools offer donation payments over time? For example you donate $100 a month and the school takes it directly out of your checking account like a bill payment?

Charlotte does.

Nevermind…I was wrong.

If I had someone donating $500 or $750 or $1000/yr. at 35, I’d be making sure we treated he/she well enough that when they’re 50 and over, they’re donating $5000 or $7500 or $10000 a year. The timeline and numbers aren’t the point, but the point is that when you have someone already donating at a relatively high level, keep them happy and keep their relationship with the university strong so that when they reach more and more of their financial goals, the university gets to reap some of the benefit as well. Abso-****ing-lutely impossible when you alienate the hell out of your donors.

Bojangles, I love the avatar…

Don't you love it? CHP calls a donation of $500 "modest" when only 5.4% of all alumni contribute back to the University. Phil, where are your fundraisers in the Development Office or better yet, what the hell are they doing?

And what of that 5.4% gives $500 or more? My guess is that less than 1% of all alumni give $500 or more.

First, I liked the email Metro - well stated and clear. You made your point and copied the right people on that email.

Second, the is no excuse for Phil to reply to an email like that. It’s unprofessional and rude. Emails never die - once you send them, you have no way to get it back…everyone should keep that in mind regardless of who you are emailing.

Third, not everyone at the school thinks this way about the $1000 donor club. I recently increased my annual donation by a pretty fair amount plus I use company matching to double my gift. I received the standard letter from Athletics with a hand written note from Mike Hummer thanking me for my donation and the next time I saw him he made sure to thank me and my wife again for our efforts. That meant something to me.

If every alumni out there gave $500 and were able to use company match to get that gift to total $1000 - imagine the money that would be raised.
were able to use company match
Wish this was available for me. Need to use when you can.

FWIW, I think this is a corporate benefit that has a finite life span.

Not trying to preach doom & gloom ---- just some reality.

Worked at a business that offered it – they were changing their benefit plans. Corporate matching went away because it boiled down to a choice between lowering individual contributions to healthcare or offering corporate matching.

General feeling was lower healthcare expense would touch more people and make more people happy.

Those that have it are stupid not to use it, but when considering ALL ALUMS, I would guess this option doesn’t exist for a majority of them.

so so true

so basic

Drama but I agree with you about his email response but wasn’t that his reply to your football email or has he sent you that a couple of times. Why didn’t you copy Judy? Deadline is always the end of June, btw.

no Lefty is wasn’t. I sent him a friendly email (very friendly) in support of Lutz contract and got the hateful reply.

I didn’t copy Judy because it did not pertain to her.

drama? whatever you say Lefty. Its called leverage, you gotta use it when its available. This guy is making enemies on campus, on here, everywhere.

Below is a e mail reply from the Lowe’s CEO. Robert Niblock

…thanks for your business and support of Lowe’s. I’m pleased to know that you enjoy shopping at our stores. We have not yet discussed any potential involvement with respect to UNCC football, but I’m sure we will be meeting with them at some point in time to better understand their plans. Take care.

CHP needs to go.

Over40NINER for Chancellor. We’ll sponsor a BIKINI CONTEST. The winner must be female and receives $1000. Admission is $50 and includes free beverages for first hour (cash bar after that). We use 3 judges and auction off the opportunity to be a judge to the highest bidders. All proceeds go to NINER FOOTBALL. We get Packer to build it up on his show (yea, I know he may not be willing). Maybe we could even get Hooters to pay us to sponsor it.
