BTW, from what I’ve read, Bruno actually left the A-10 back in April and that A-10 associate commissioner Ray Cella has been serving as interim. Also read that Bruno was making $370,000 a year, so I will assume that McGlade was hired at a starting salary of $400,000+.
Most universities in the Atlantic 10 should be happy with the hiring of an Irish Catholic. That list in addition to Xavier would include Dayton, Duquesne, Fordham, La Salle, Saint Bonaventure, Saint Joseph’s and Saint Louis.
In what consitutes a “I’d have to see it believe it” scenario, one of the NYC papers actually wrote something not only about the new A-10 commissioner, but Fordham as well. This piece really hits the nail on the head concerning the main problem with Fordham’s men’s hoops program – the Bronx Rams need a new facility!!!

Hmmm, the Xavier, Dayton, St Joes, Temple, LaSalle, Duquesne, St. Bona., Richmond, Fordham media outlets have all chimed in.
Can’t believe there is nothing from the Charlotte media outlets ?

Well, we did get that great piece on ACC men’s hoops recruiting in today’s Big O! I’m looking forward to the one that will follow about the A-10’s incoming classes.
Anyway, in all seriousness, there have been some good stories on the new commish. Just wish one was from the Observer.

preach it Decourcy!
She inherits several problems that have been festering in the A-10, starting with a television contract with CSTV - now CBS College Sports – that apparently has done more to restrain the league’s members from appearing on TV than to promote it.
Last March, living in an Atlantic 10 city (Cincinnati) and subscribing to just about every satellite and cable package that could expand the college basketball available to my household (ESPN FullCourt, FOX College Sports, CSTV, DirecTV Sports Pack), I could not watch any A-10 tournament games except those involving Xavier and the title game shown on ESPN. During championship week I could watch early-round games in the Metro Atlantic, the Colonial, the Missouri Valley and the Mountain West, and of course there was tip-to-buzzer coverage for the big-money leagues. But the A-10 was as hard to find on TV as a fresh episode of Moonlight.
