At what point does the number of children you have cross the line into insanity. I only have one…and thinking about adding another…thus doubling my work load…makes me nervous. I cant even begin to imagine 17.
Have they never heard of condoms or birth control pills.
If they can support 17 kids, fine, but I’m pretty sure they have to get gov’t assistance.
And why do all the names start w/ J, like the Dad? Mom must be a zombie that does everything he says.
Seriously, there has got to be some kind of medical reason they should stop. We just had our first child 3 weeks ago, and it is simply unimaginable for me to think of that happening 17 times in 19 years. The article says she has been pregnant for 10.5 years of her life. What I want to know is, how long in the last 19 years has she not been pregnant. My wife would shoot me on the spot if I told her we were going to keep having kid after kid.
Yeah this kind of thing is really something of the past. There is no need anymore to have 10+ kids b/c you don’t need them to work on a farm!! My grandmother has 13 siblings and it is hard keeping up with everyone, and of course they were on a farm. This family must have a good deal of income
I remember reading an article that said a womans life expectancy shortens every time she has a child, since it is soo much wear and tear on her body. It also suggested, that today since women are only have 1-3 kids is the reason why women are expected to live longer.
I take from this, that women did not used to live longer then men, since they had soo many kids. In fact, thats why men had a few wives over the course of their life, because they died frequently.
I saw the article on Yahoo about them. This paragraph really got to me: "Less than 30 minutes after giving birth, the Duggars already were talking of having more.
“We’d love to have more,” Michelle said, adding that the girls are outnumbered seven to 10 in the family. “We love the ruffles and lace.”
WTF Mate?!? Girls being outnumbered 10-7 and loving ruffles and lace are not good reasons to have number 18!! I think I saw a study one time saying that by about the 5th baby, each baby after that loses IQ points because of lack of nutrients or something like that. I hope that’s not true for this family. We already have enough ignorance in America.
Personally, I think there should be a cap on four (which I even feel is too many but JMO). 17 goes beyond being insane. And their kids look creepy as well since they all are so close in age and resemble one another. Castration FTW
This family would have hero status in Europe and Japan where they have atrocious birth rates.
our rates aren’t much better, they should have hero status here if people wish to keep their lifestyles going…its interesting to watch Europe collapse though.
some famous people came from huge families, John Wesley who was probably the biggest influence that led Britain to a bloodless revolution in contrast to France’s bloody revolution, came from a family of 19 kids. And this was before electricity, washer and dryer’s, etc., his mother was one heck of a woman.
