If Brady gets the Bonnies job then Lutz has a direct rival right away.
Brady no longer in the mix for the Bona position.
UD frees up a spot with the transfer of rising junior 6-9, 300 lb. C Desmond Adedeji. As the DDN piece points out, if heâd had done something about those 300 pounds, he would have played in more than 4 games this season!
Wow, looks like the Bonnies will fill their position before the Bulls. Olean, NY vs. Tampa. Snow and cold vs. warm and beaches. Atlantic 10 vs. Big East. Thatâs a real head scratcher⌠
Williams showed flashes every blue moon, but his lack of control was evident in his juco statistics. His loss won't be felt.
As for Booker, he sure put up big numbers in high school, but I never saw enough of him to know if he had talent or if lack of conditioning precluded him from demonstrating it.
Charlotte actually appears to be doing a good job remaking its roster. The big key is Gerrity. The kid can flat out play. Heâs best with the ball in his hands and loves to drive to the hoop, something the Niners havenât had since Basden graduated. Gerrity is even more effective at it.
Also, if Phil Jones is good enough to start and anchor the middle, that would be another big plus.
Of course, none of this matters if the defense of Charlotte doesnt buckle down. Still, I have to wonder if the graduation of Alexander will be a big boon for this team. I just didnât like the effect he had on the rest of the team, and now I understand why Oklahoma wasnât sad to see him go.
Just read todayâs Charlotte Observer article. I donât like the excuses Lutz made about last season. Donât like it at all. He just should have accepted full blame and said he would rectify matters. Why Charlotte would consider giving him a contract extension now is beyond me âŚ
Gill, I think 55 hit the nail on the head for the most part.
From the Rivals 2007 Top 150: #81 Chris Wright (Dayton) and #87 Dante Jackson (Xavier) are both from Ohio; #131 Lavoy Allen (Temple) is from Philly. [BTW, St. Joeâs signee Idris Hilliard of New Jersey was on the list for a time.]
From the Rivals 2008 Top 150: #36 Kenny Frease (Xavier) is from Ohio; #137 Jiovanny Fontan (Fordham) is from New Jersey.
FWIW, we landed 2 from the 2006 top 150: #106 Phil Jones and #139 David Booker. As we know, neither are from the Carolinas (Jones from Brooklyn and Booker from Mississippi). #123 Delroy James (Rhode Island) is from Brooklyn as well. BTW, James is the brother of Duquesneâs Shawn James.
Wilderness was also ranked 82. I know you got your rankings from rivals and this comes from HoopScoop, but he was still ranked in the top 100 by a popular basketball recruiting site.
Wilderness, a 6-6 combo forward out of Dunwoody High is ranked #82 in the n ation by HoopScoop. He averaged 20.1 points and 10.8 rebounds, last season, while shooting 41% from three-point range and 57% from the field. He added 3.1 steals and 3.0 assists for Dunwoody, which won the 4A state title under head coach Scott Braco.
âAnJuan is one of the best athletes in the class of `06 and has earned his high rating (top 100),â Lutz said. âHis team wins and he is a huge reason for that with his relentless effort in every phase of the game. AnJuan is a combination forward who scores, rebounds, blocks shots, and makes winning plays. He may remind some of our fans of Eddie Basden before he leaves Charlotte.â
With Rashaun Freeman and Stephane Lasme (UMass) and Ian Vouyoukas (Saint Louis) getting invites to the PIT, does anyone know if DeâAngelo has gotten an invite as well? Starts next week and I have yet to see rosters posted on the PIT website.
The Spiders lose an important piece of their rebuilding process with transfer of David Gonzalvez. Also looks like David Brewster wonât return either after becoming an academic casualty mid-season.
