Thoughts on subscription streaming services

I’ve had Netflix for awhile. But I think it’s time to try something different. Looking for suggestions. I am leaning towards Amazon. But am open to anything. There now seems to be many options. Amazon, Vudu, Cinema Now, Mubi, Hulu Plus.

I’m not looking to replace cable. I am looking for a good package of old tv shows, while still having the movies option.

I have amazon prime - decent catalog of shows plus you get deals with a tone of other stuff they have.

I have Amazon Prime so I’ve been getting the instant view videos too. I haven’t used it much. Mainly because most of the stuff I’ve already seen on Netflix. I should probably get rid of Netflix but the shows I want to watch are all on it.

The 2500w inverter I got for The Normbulance was $550, but I got it for $160 through amazon prime, plus free shipping!

Huge benefits to prime besides the video.

Awesome! Yeah, I’ve been a long time user of Prime. I don’t think I can go back to life without Prime. The movies are a nice perk that I keep ignoring though. I might have to ditch my beloved Netflix, save some cash.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I’m leaning towards Amazon Prime. Really curious if anybody has tried Hulu Plus, so I don’t have to be a guinea pig. I don’t think Vudu and Cinema Now have a great tv selection.

I’ve seen that Amazon Prime is free for college students for 6 months. http://www.amazon.com/gp/student/signup/info?tag=dealnewscom

And free for parents/caregivers for 3 months. http://www.amazon.com/gp/mom/signup/info?tag=dealnewscom

I use a combination of Prime, Hulu Plus and Vudu. Vudu actually has some nice titles and the 1080p availability is a plus. I also like how you have the option of paying more/less for the type of resolution. And they offer programming from Showtime/HBO.

Hulu Plus, for the money, is a great deal IF you are big into tv shows. It’s a great way to stay current on those but if you are primarily into movies, you are better off just going with Prime and nothing else.

Netflix blows, IMO. I had it for a couple years but it became obsolete to me with the other services now available. Their price hike also turned me off and most of their movie selection is old.

Are you doing subscription services for all 3? Or are you paying per use?

You think Prime’s tv selection is any better or worse than Netflix?

Cinemax and HBO have their own stream of movies at maxgo.com and hbogo.com. These are free with a cable or sat subscription. Rumor is Starz will do the same when deal with Netflix ends.

If you like tv shows as well this is not the answer though.
