Thoughts on the game...

First of all, a very good win over a team that wouldn’t miss from behind the 3. THey hit 11 3’s in the 2nd half and yes part of that was our poor permiter defense but give TCU credit because they hit some incredible shots. Shropshire tore up Plavich all night long. I am not sure why Plavich was on him.

Offensively great games from Eddie, EJ, and Curtis. Thank you Plavich for seeing that it wasn’t your night and not shooting 12 3’s.

In closing we are improving and it is showing. As long as we get better as the year continues I can look toward March with high hopes.

GO NINERS! BEAT ECU!

I was standing right next to the Charlotte bench. I found it very interesting that when Iti got pulle dout for Nance especially in the 1st half he had some choice words for the coaches. You could see he was pissed off. My opinion…good for him. Maybe he will realize he needs to start playing well if he wants minutes. And tonight he played a decent game at least for Martin Iti standards.

Iti has standards

who woulda thought

Given Nance’s health (hadn’t practiced/played since Marquette cause of a bad stomach virus, was pukin before the game)… I think coach tried to use Nance in the first knowing he wasn’t gonna be worth anything in the 2nd half. Nance produced well for the minutes he was in in the first. And Iti the same in the 2nd. Solid effort from both guys IMO given the circumstances.

Looks like the light’s flashed on for Curtis since the cinci game…he’s very much a different player in my opinion. My other thought is…if Drayton can muscle up this summer, and the coaches can work with him on his defense,he could really be a star next year.

"Veteran" front-court playes for next year could be Withers, Drayton, Nance, Iti(?), Pigford(?). That's nothing to laugh at.

Is it just me or would you guys like to see Withers take the ball at the top of the key like he does already, but drive to the hoop with the dribble? It seems to me that he just doesnt work off the dribble enough. I would really like to see him just take off and drive to the lane and draw the foul. Which I think is what we will see more as the season progresses.

All of our post players work hard off the ball on the blocks, but as a team, we are TERRIBLE at feeding the post

Nice win and a fun game to watch but if this team wants to be special and do some damage in the post season they must become better defensively (real soon). TCU’s guards made us look bad. We do not fight thru screens and when # 10 started lighting us up I counted three times in a row where we came down and either dropped off of him or did not switch after picks. Did we ever stop them on an inbounds play or after a timeout?

I do not understand with the athletes we have and as strong as they are why we can not play better defense.

We never stop anybody, we just outscore them.

That mentality will get your *ss handed to you in the postseason real quick. There is time left to change but I think the teams personality has already been formed this late in the season. Just pray we do not have a bad shooting night when it counts.

I know a lot of people will say this is too negative but we are starting to look like a team that just out guns you and that is concerning when you start talking about playing postseason or top 20 teams.

Maybe this is the trend because I thought TCU reminded / looked a lot like us.

Our guards have been going underneath screens for years and I still don’t understand why Bobby tolerates it. He gets pissed, however it never stops.

We never seem to put anyone away and that is scary. There are half a dozen teams we should have burried but didn’t, tonight included. I guess a lot of it has to do with FT shooting.

A cusa win is a win I guess.

That could be attributed more to TCU’s 3pt shooting down the stretch. They were shooting lights out from 3 in the entire 2nd half (over 50%).

FT shooting? As a team I thought we shot pretty well (68%). Without looking can you say who had the worst night at the line?? The answer may surprise you: Curtis at 2/5 was the only player below 50% ← highlight to see.

Some of the interior defense sounded like it needed work (better help side) from the audio feed… but you can’t really stop shooters who are hot from draining their buckets.

If you didn’t watch the game, you should know, it helps a lot on hot shooters to put a body on them. THey got hot because they were wide open so often.

It was hard to watch it, they were so wide open so often. So wide open that Bobby asked Mitch “Who the f*** were you guarding?”

Isn’t the idea of a game to “outscore” the other team.

Geez, this board can find something wrong with God.

I mean, really. We are 14-3. Say that again 14-3, 14-3, 14-3. What would really make people happy? TCU is an excellent team who beat Texas Tech at home and Memphis at Memphis. They are as quick as we are and many of their threes came in transition. Plus when you get the hot hand it is hard to stop.

There is no shame in this game. I wish people would just enjoy it for what is it, a win in a so far OUTSTANDING season.

Give the negative a rest!

Attendance lower than I expected (but we are what we are).
Team defense needs major work.
Eddie is a beast in a silk suit. Just awesome.
Unjoyed the throwback theme: students looked like they were having fun; enjoyed the oldies; liked the old U-N-C-C, GO NINERS GO! cheer.

that comment reminds me…why does God let psunami’s, earthquakes and other natural disasters happen. Why does he let crazy people park their SUV’s in front of an approaching train and let them survive while killing passengers on that same train?

sorry…I couldn’t resist!

You’re right. It’s a very good win. But I want to see the vs. UAB and vs. Marquette Charlotte 49ers. Not the vs. Georgia St. and vs. ECU Charlotter 49ers. Great basketball is more fun to watch than not great basketball. Especially when your team is certainly capable of it. I don’t think anyone is complaining about the win. I think it’s a forward-thinking concern about what happens when that level of play is attempted at home against Cincinnati, DePaul, or Memphis.

I thought this was by far our most enjoyable game I have watched all year. Our offense was fantastic. Every player played within themselves. I really can’t think of a single complaint except for the poor attendance. As far as our defense goes, I didn’t think it was that bad, they were just on fire and got several open looks when the defender left their man to help on the driver and the driver did a good job finding the open shooters. It wasn’t our best defensive effort, but we had a 10 point working margin most of the game. I liked how relaxed we seemed to play and EJ had his best game by far as a niner and we got nice contributions from Chris and Lee when they were in there. Curtis and Eddie Played like I expect them to, which was very good and I too thought Plav did a good job not forcing the issue. Mitch was solid as well. Again no complaints about our play and hopefully we will keep it up.

So did I! It was a real treat. We changed to "Charlotte" when I was a freshman and thus I never got to hear the U-N-C-C cheer during my tenure; upperclassmen biatched about not hearing it anymore.

Atheletic name change or not, I say we bring back that cheer; it seemed like something the older alumni got into.
