TIAA-CREF Alumni Golf Classic

It’s that time of year again! I think that it’s really cool that Chancellor Dubois is joining us for the tournament this year. If you haven’t had a chance to meet him, this is a great opportunity. I’m excited about the Nike Dri-FIT golf shirts complete with the alumni association logo that we’ll be giving each golfer…

I’ll drive the beer cart.

I’ve never played in a tournament before… How does it work? Do we form our own groups/teams or are they picked randomly? I wouldn’t mind playing, but I’m not that good and don’t want to hold any serious players back.

Beer cart #2. :D JK. You can bring your own guys or ask to be paired up with others. About half the people are avid golfers, the other half just having fun. It's a good event for every level.

The coaches and Judy speaks. Sounds like the Chancellor will also this year. Last year we got a hat, golf shirt, and other stuff…plus prizes for top finishers. They have real-time scoring (and GPS) at Highland Creek so you can see how other teams are doing.

The Nike Dri-FIT golf shirt may be worth the $100 alone.

Oh yeah, did I mention cold beer on a fall afternoon a few days before Midnight Madness? :toast:

I'm on the other Beer Cart.

You can be the official score cheater. B)

How does this work? Do you put your own team together or do just enter and get put on a team?

I may talk my other half into volunteering for a beer cart.

If free beer’s available, I’ll need her there so she can drive me home.

Don’t you think she’d rather be flying than being around a bunch of drunk golfers?

Should I send a personal invitation to Mrs. Penders?

Great Alum! Now you two will be fighting over the beer.

Hootie,

You can sign up your own team or we can place you with other players if you have less than four players together. We have plenty of players that sign up as a single every year.

I want Mrs Penders in my foursome so she can yell at me when I do something wrong.

I have been waiting for this post. Great event, look forward to it every year.

The givaways are worth the entry fee.

I talked to Nick yesterday. Registration is going well and those interested in playing should get there sign-ups in soon.

$100! This better be for Hurrican Relief or something?
Did you find out if there’s free beer?

Yes, the beer is free and they bring it to you.

I wouldn’t let you guys spend all day on the golf course with out beer!!!

Seriously though, this is a good cause. This academic year, the Alumni Association is providing talented UNC Charlotte students with over $12,000 in financial support. Thanks to intitiatives like the golf tournament and the 49er license plate program, the amount of financial support that we are able to award students increases each year. Thank you to all of you guys for helping make that happen.

For $5 each, I'll "find" those lost balls hit over the hill and not in sight.
