Tickets, parking passes, and seat cushions

Received this email from Jesse Garber today…

Hello, we hope you are enjoying your summer plans so far and are gearing up to have a great 4th of July! With the inaugural Charlotte 49ers Football season less than two months away, we wanted to take a quick moment to send some important information. First, your season ticket package with parking pass(es), if purchased, will be mailed in mid-August. Second, upon receipt of your ticket package in mid-August you will be eligible to utilize various online ticket management functions like email ticket transfer and/or the print-at-home process. However, please note that any online use will deactivate the commemorative paper tickets from your season ticket package. More ticket management function information will be sent in a later email. Lastly, our friends at IMG Seating will be contacting you soon via mail about a special seat cushion opportunity. If interested, you will be asked to enter your ticket account/ID number during the order process. You may be aware that this is your TicketReturn Customer ID/Account number which can be found below. Also for ticket package mailing purposes, please reply immediately if your address information is incorrect.

Please record this information or save this message for future referral. If you have any questions about your ticket account, please reply or call the 49ers Ticket Office at 704-687-4949. Also note, the forthcoming IMG Seating message is a special offer to season ticket holders and specific assistance will require separate communication with their customer service representatives.

[/quote] The seat cushion offer will be to rent “stadium chairs” (which have a seat back) for $5 per game. They will place the chair before the game in your assigned spot. You will not be allowed to
bring your own stadium chair. At least. this is the information I got from the ticket office.

Really have a problem with them not allowing outside cushions. Renting a cushion should remain an option among many choices in making oneself more comfortable during a game, not the exclusive remedy. I get that we have to make money. Just comes across as slightly discourteous.

BTW, my back is just fine. Not whining because this will affect me adversely.

Yeah, Jesse says “seat cushions” but like 4ever niner said, I think what he means is “stadium seats with armrests” which are one of the prohibited items. As far as I can tell, cushions without armrests are okay to bring in.

I hope this is the case. I think not allowing fans to use their own seat cushions will give the wrong impression to a lot of our fans, especially some of the new football fans. Jumping to FBS off the bat puts us at an immediate crossroads for the program. We need new fans, and forcing seat cushion rentals will only chase some potential fans away.

We should provide a cushion that’s nice enough that fans will want to purchase or rent the cushion, but it needs to be voluntary.

Damn seat cushion nazis!

guys… It’s 5 dollars a seat cushion. That’s 30 bucks the whole year. If that’s too much then don’t get one, the entire home side already has something to lean your back on. This is not a huge deal. If people are discouraged by what kind of seat cushion they can bring into the stadium, we are in trouble attendance wise.

Wow. Niner students/alums/fans can debate and or find fault with anything.

It’s a #### seat cushion. Who cares if we have them…or not…if we can bring them in…or if some 3rd party installs them before season starts.

Its a stupid cushion.

We’re talking about cushions?

They could not allow you to bring your own stadium seat. You’d be fairly pissed if the person next to you brought some cushion which matched his huge ass
and took up part of your space. Yes, I know his huge ass will be taking up your space anyway, but they could hardly list “huge ass” as a prohibited item now could they?

My point exactly. My concern is that we not chase away NEW FANS because of something as trivial as seat cushions. We need those fans if we are going to hit the level of FBS football we want to.

I personally do not care if I have a seat cushion or not. I have 3 Panther seat cushions and seldom use one for their games (since they started searching the cushions for alcohol).

Sometimes a question answers itself. This year they will search them for explosives. True. NFL stadium entry rules are changing toward the stricter, thanks to the Boston Marathon bombings, I assume.

See, if we’d only done the whole seating in the stadium as stadium seating then we wouldn’t have this debate right now!
