[s]@[/s]Charlotte49ers adding women's sports to meet Title IX requirements from football. Sand volleyball, swimming other possibilities.
Per pure entertainment I’d want to see Lacross and Ice Hockey. This probably all comes down to how much money we’d have to invest, and I understand that, but in a way it would be cool to get in on one of the sports with fewer teams. More likely to win a national championship haha
Selfishly, I’d love to see fencing. But, that’s a long shot and doesn’t seem to fit the cculture of our school (plus there’s already 2 big ncaa fencing programs in NC).
I’d be happy to add lacrosse or ice hockey. How about rugby? When I was in school the rugby clubs seemed fairly active. Is there ncaa women’s rugby?
I think swimming and diving would be a great add… especially with several pro’s in the area and the success that Wingate & Queens have had with swim teams…
Would be a good shot at getting an NCAA Champion(individual not team) at Charlotte…
Rowing/ Crew would be my vote for the other sport… They could have practice on the flat water by the White Water Center, I’d imagine boat storage would be possible there and the access to the Beer Garden for competitions would be a perk, if the NCAA had women’s kayaking that would be all too perfect
This is a great point. There are a lot of swim teams already, so I hope we don’t go that route. Rowing/Crew would be really cool with the lake and the white water rafting center. Kayaking would actually be really cool to watch. I hope that sports like that are more popular in the future and reach the collegiate level.
I think we could get a good number of people out to watch Lacrosse. Lacrosse and ice hockey would probably bring in the most fans. Of course, in the grand scheme of things none of these really bring in that many but…would be fun.
Not sure about Lacrosse but I remember one of the big issues with adding Field Hockey would be field usage at Transamerica Field. To support playing FH there they’d need to go to artificial turf, which isn’t considered ideal for Soccer. So we’d either go with artificial turf, play FH in The Rich, or have to build FH their own facilities. I’d image it would be the same for Lacrosse.

Rec Services would scream, but they have several artificial turf fields already. Just sayin.
