Too many international players in college sports?

College sports is such a mess right now that I don’t think it matters. We need to clean the house up before we worry about where the mice are coming from.

If it’s a state school that is supported by state money people have a beef. That’s why a certain percentage of freshmen at UNC have to be from NC.

On top of that, US citizens have a beef with any university that accepts federal loans, federal grants, etc.

I don’t believe at all in the concept of private schools that benefit from federal dollars have free rein and can do what they want.

That’s why I despise this “they are private so they don’t have to disclose their financials” nonsense.

Yeah that’s kind of where I see the problem. I don’t want our tax dollars supporting primarily international students / athletes.

The problem is that capping the # at public institutions would allow private schools to run away with championships.

Why LSU’s expensive pursuit of Yam Madar, 25, is a troubling sign for Will Wade - CBS Sports

Madar is a former second-round draft pick of the Boston Celtics in 2020. He is a high-end role player for Hapoel Tel Aviv of the EuroLeague and Israeli league. Given his advanced age – Madar will turn 26 in December – he would also face an uncertain path to collegiate eligibility.

He’s played four years in the Euro League now coming over to play his inaugural NCAA season for $5 million.

I’m glad Bilas tells me this is fine otherwise I’d be a little worried for the sport.
