Top 25 College Football Tailgates

It’s time to start doing our homework…

Barbecue + Beer + Hot Coeds = Successful Tailgate

Not enough pictures of tailgating girls from the SEC. >:D

clt says the first tailgate in 2013 will be epic.

What we need to be concerned with is location, where will tailgating be, and how will people have access to it. The area around CRI is boxed in by the existing and planned buildings and EPIC. We need to make sure there is lots of space in a reasonably close proximity to the stadium for people to park and tailgate… building another deck only addresses parking, not tailgating. This HAS to be a high priority, because honestly… tailgating is equally as important to the team on the field in the grand scheme of things.

I’m all about tailgating…been doing it at South Carolina games for years…already got the green canopy…lol

Let’s work it out then:

Remaining CRI field loop lot (Tailgate Friendly)
New flat lot beside Motorsports Building (show on renderings) TF
New flat lot between Grigg Hall and Parking Deck I (under construction) TF
New flat lot beside Union Deck (assuming Science Building hasn’t begun construction) TF
Kohls and Blooms outer parking lot (assuming available) TF

Parking Deck I (Not TF)
Union Deck (NTF)
West Deck (NTF)
Planned parking deck beside Motorsports Building (NTF)

I can help you with 2 out of the three. The third I leave to SCK.

I said Hot Coeds, not the c-section scar strippers from Twin Peeks and Leather and Lace. ::slight_smile:

With the limited parking near the stadium, I imagine the AD will be selling parking passes so that donors can park closer based on rank etc. Even though, people are still going to need to park in other areas and use the shuttle to get to the stadium, so I imagine there will be a couple of areas where people can park and tailgate.

One thing I liked that I saw at Duke last year when I went up to watch the Hokies play, was how all of the open lots allowed tailgating. We parked in a lot that was about a 7-8 minute walk to the stadium through campus and it wasn’t bad at all. The lot closest to the stadium was reserved for the Iron Dukes and everyone’s space had a canopy already set up and waiting for them.

EDIT: After looking at the rendering, those parking spots in the ‘loop’ all back up to grass and would be a great place to set up premium tailgate spots.

With the limited flat lots near the stadium, tailgating spots are going to be prime real estate. I guess I’d better start increasing my 49er Club donations to be sure I can get one of the prime spots. You only have to donate $49 to get a parking spot for basketball. I wonder what the donation level will have to be to get a football spot?

I wonder if the parking spaces will be tied to the gold/green FSLs in any way?

Now there’s a great question. Our fans get basketball parking too cheap. Premium tailgating spots should definetly be used to maximize revenue.

I’d be willing to be that you’re hoping so!

I’ll buy my way onto someone else’s prime parking spot with beer and burgers.

Virginia Tech has one of the best tailgating layouts, along with NC State, just tons of flat land. Of course, there’s no parking decks, which is all we have.

For reference, here are App state’s giving levels and benefits:

I’m not sure if this is common at other schools, but the lots at VT are all numbered so you own a space instead of just getting access to a certain lot.

I’m sure they will, but I would imagine the final ranking will be based on priority points.

Big day for UGA. They win the best tailgating award. And they also win the Best Party School award, again.
