Total FSLs purchased update?

Wouldn’t want to stand out among the rest of us![/QUOTE]

Whomever runs this site…much applause in your direction. I see a 49er jersey on my back in the near future.

They need to get on the ball! Why did we switch to "Plan B" before establishing a marketing campaign???

Exactly what I posted weeks ago…Why the hell, if we’re obviously sturggling to get $$$ in (even from the reservation list) are we not seeing ads, commercials, etc. We have done absolutely ZERO marketing/sales pitches to the general public…its unbelievable–do they think they just have to sit by the phone and wait for the orders to come in? I’m really beginning to get pi$$ed about the ā€œeffortā€ we’ve seen to sell these FSLs so far!

One reason we haven’t seen much marketing may be because they are concentrating more on corporate donations rather than FSL purchases. After all, they have 3 years to sell licensees and only a short time to raise the big bucks. I’m not saying that’s excusable, though.

My $.02 on my 1,000th post.

This is flawed logic (IMO) because if we’re still sitting at 2000 FSLs sold (with an actual depost in hand atleast) this summer/fall I think the ENTIRE program might be in trouble. This is what I think ALOT of people are missing…this football team is not a 100% done-deal. It would be if we had already received $$$ on 4-5000 of those 5400 ā€œreservationsā€ā€¦They need to get busy advertising/selling these things NOW!!!

:unhappy:

I hope you are wrong. I don’t see how they couldn’t focus on all aspects that need to be focused on to whatever extent they need to be. Being overburdened or strained already sounds completely incorrect. There should be enough people helping to do everything properly. I don’t know if they have some hidden fear of the alumni, but if we are overburdened it seems like they would be calling on those of us they know are committed to this and can be of service.

We have a great business school. You don’t think we can find more business people to research the payment options plan for free and show them that we need to offer a monthly plan and more flexibility? These phone calls they are going to make, they can’t get trustworthy alumni to help out so that it is not so daunting (I’m somewhat assuming it’s daunting since it has not been done and sounds like a lot of people to call). There is no one among our alumni who might qualify for a volunteer or low payed interim football AD? Why have they not tried to reach out to the students more to have an appropriate street team ready so that we can get as many students to buy FSLs as possible?

It just sounds like things may be being mismanaged or under managed needlessly. If they want to continue to bring this school together, this is one way to do it. I may be overly paranoid since this is partly my baby just as it is all our baby, and I’m sure I haven’t been made privy to all the details, but the way things have gone and appear to be going worries me quite a lot.

AMEN!

All of these things SCREAM for an Assistant AD for Football!

Everyone leading this football effort so far is part time (someone in the AD with other fulltime responsibilities) or volunteer (and focused on their real jobs).

This U has just taken in hand $425,000 of a contract obligated $1,700,000 over the next 4 years. I for one would not mind diverting $50,000 a year so an AAD for Football could focus on getting the other $3,300,000 in FSL’s and $40,000,000 for the rest!

We are trying to raise $45,000,000 and won’t even hire a fulltime employee to coordinate the effort!!! WTF!?!?!?!?!?

This Mickey Mouse BS is why outsiders think this U is a joke! Just look at UTSA. They approved football after we did and already have a coach!

sensitive people about charlotte people dont read… just thinking of the what if… if charlotte football falls through then people that paid for their FSLs would get their money back correct? Would they get interest on that money that the school should be making off of it now also?

and… how long could football be postponed and could a FSL purchaser could ask for their money back? Like could they push the start back to 2018 if they wanted with no recourse?

I agree with just about all of this (see my previous post). However, please stop with the UTSA comparison. I think it has already been established that they had a stadium ready (or almost) for use as well as state funds to help their cause. We do not.

This only helps to prove my point. They are ahead of the curve and still feel the need to have someone coordinating their efforts this early (playing in 2012). WE NEED someone to organize this even more then they do! All they need are on campus practice fields and a football center. We need that and a stadium. Why are we dragging our feet and WAITING for magic beans to grow!

The contract states that the U gets to keep the interest, but the actual amount paid is refunded.

I would have made sure that every one of the folks who had reserved NSLs got a phone call (or two) during the month of March as a reminder or to find out who was holding back. That is not so many phone calls for them to make if divided up.

Figuring on 2 tickets, that’s 2700 calls, 4 tickets is 1350 calls. Assume one made 15 calls per day over 20 days, that’s 300 calls for one person. Not a huge task, even if leaving a voice mail. It could have been easily done.

I received a phone call (not a recording, but Dan) the last week of March to remind me of the deadline of April 3rd. So, they must be doing some personal calls.

That’s good, but where’s the TV commercials and print advertisments with Rucker and Minter? Where’s the d*** advertisement campaign? Why hire an ad firm and not let them advertise?

personal calls is not advertising, and I’m getting worried myself :unhappy:
-Although that is kind of a positive step I guess.

I’m starting to think (again) that Dubois/admin are hoping to not have to spend ANY money to help this effort if they aren’t forced to and are determined not to. I bet Judy, Dan and Mike want to pull their hair out (I know Dan doesn’t have the hair for that).

They are making personal calls so that they can have a idea of what is causing the 3000+ to not buy their tickets yet. This will give an idea of what way the advertisements will lean, and for future programs they will run (ie maybe a monthly payment to GET TO the 250$/seat initial payment)

They are not just making these phone calls to remind people of the tickets, but to also listen to them, and see how they can shape this thing so that it works.

And we know this how? Has someone talked to you about this stuff? Details!

That may be…
-But I don’t see how hard it is to run advertisements to entice the local community and throughout the triangle as well because I’m sure there is alumni and people within driving distance who’d be interested in football, that probably don’t even know about it yet.
-That’s where TV spots come in, which I haven’t seen yet. They need to start running them IMO.

Yes someone has talked to me about this stuff lol.

Nothing is set in stone about how they are going to shape the future of this, the only thing set in stone as of right now is we need to sell 5,000 FSL’s before we can move forward.

Also, a little side not…there is no ā€œPlan Bā€ in effect right now, nothing has changed. If anything they are open to everything that can get the ball rolling right now.

And Dubois, dispite how it may seem is actually very behind this and may be willing to bend his own expectations a little bit to make this happen. THAT is why the personal phone calls are being made right now, so that the AD has something concrete to go to him with and say ā€œHey, we have sold #### of seats so far, and this is the main reason why the others havent bought yet. According to our data we should go XYZ directionā€

EXACTLY…and this is why advertising should be TASK NUMBER ONE right now!!!Screw all this research and personal calls crap. Anyone who made a reservation last year, knows the payment should be made already. Therefore it it has not, it likely will not be ā€œin the mailā€ anytime soon. So, start the ā€œsellingā€ process to everyone else!..I feel like they are really screwing this up from the start!

The Athletic Foundation has recently added a new staff member, Alex Gary. With Mike, Kelly, and Dan this represents a 1/3 increase in the team and you can bet this was done with football in mind. Getting new positions approved at the University is probably every bit as hard right now as it is in the for-profit world. Give these guys a chance.
