Tough players / Crying

Henry is pretty tough.

from what i have gathered (not much TV–unfortunately or not!), i agree. i guess what i’m hoping for is a gathering of fire-toughness-intelligence. not saying henry doesn’t have it. melvin watkins did. maybe the intelligence was paramount with him, but he had it all! for those of you who go back that far, that was an extremely tough, intelligent team with a very cerebral, firey coach. perfect!

Clayton is very tough. Plus he takes losing hard. He immediately became my all time favorite player when he was shown crying on the bench after a loss. I love players who take losing hard.

Me too. I also love players who can shoot and hit FTs like a D1 college men’s basketball player should.

It’s just too bad he has very limited basketball skills

I HATED the crying. Sure it’s good he hates to lose. I get that, but crying on the bench isn’t cool to me unless it’s your last game of your career or something. Just a regular season game? Sorry, not a fan.

Work on FTs and we wouldn’t lose as much

why? it shows he’s taking the loss hard and that is something you want in a player. im not forgiving the free throws but how could anybody not appreciate that moment?

I prefer when we make our opponents cry. 49ers win 80-72.

Right now the only people that are crying are our fans.

Because we were losing to effing ECU…again!

Actually, I was ready to cry during that game too.

Just don’t like crying over losing a basketball game. I’m sure he’s a great guy. Just not my style. Personally think it’s kinda silly

Toughness in sports means you are mentally tough, physically tough, and emotionally tough. Henry, Clayton, and countless other do not have all 3. The biggest one missing is emotional toughness. These guys and TWill argue with opponents and refs to the point where they get unnecessary fouls or even ejections. These things do not help us win games. The object is to play physical and aggressive to the point of making your opponents mentally and emotionally weak. Mental weakness occurs when there are times in games where players make mistakes like turnovers, missed free throws, and broken defensive assignments. Once again this is not a strong suit of our team leaders. All three of those guys are physically tough and they show it. It is the other areas of toughness that are lacking, and where great players separate themselves from the average players. I have yet to see a player have all of these traits on our team. It takes a couple of years to see this so the freshmen and OB have not had a chance to prove it yet. Time will tell.

For the most part I agree. Man up. I get it if it’s National Title, Senior night, etc. Those pivotal times that you know that was your last shot. For a regular game though? Don’t cry, get pissed and come back stronger next time.

you guys are funny. Who cares if they cry? Fans crying can be silly I guess, but the players are emotionally charged and sometimes they show emotion! Oh no!

I’m sure it was a conscious choice to cry.

clt isn’t that upset by the spilled milk.

What if it’s their birthday?

That’s all I’m saying. Thank You

I believe this was the game the refs screwed Willie with 2 or 3 BS fouls and if I recall correctly he was screaming at them near the end of the game, I’m willing to give him a pass on this one.
