ESPN synopsis below from March, 2010:

Travis is the typical high major, lengthy shooter. He can shoot a variety of shots off the dribble or catch and is very consistent. He uses a step back going each direction and his length to get a shot off over his defender. Hammonds can come off down screens scoring off the curl cut or flare. His release point is low, from his shoulder, which may be effected by length at times and his shot selection is sometimes questionable. But with his size he’s able to get it off and is extremely accurate shooting the ball from there. Hammonds is a high percentage shooter, not a volume shooter and can catch a heat stroke when he gets hot. He gets his work in on a limited number of shots.

ESPN synopsis below from December, 2009:

Hammond is a sophomore that showed range in knocking it down from behind the arc. He is a good looking young prospect that showed glimpses of being a high major player, but needs to be more consistent with his shot selection. He rebounds well from the 2-guard position and is a capable defender when he puts his mind to it. He made a couple of nice plays off the dribble in transition, but his bread & butter is his outside game; when he heats up he can put together a string of treys that can change the momentum of a game.

picked up an offer from VT. Has visited South Carolina and Clemson has expressed interest in him.

Scout blurb

Travis Hammonds, PF/SF, CP3 All-Stars – A big bodied wing, Hammonds is probably best in the combo forward role. He had his outside shot working in a big way in the morning knocking in several threes. Also he played down low with toughness and rebounded well for his size. Hammonds is a wide body who isn’t super athletic, but at the right level he will be extremely productive.
