This is the first game I have intentionally missed in years. I just kept thinking about how upset I would be for taking the time to drive up and back to sit and watch what I knew would be a pitiful display of the game of basketball.
Turns outā¦I was right.
I am literally glad I stayed home. I was able to vacuum and get the attic cleaned after putting the Christmas decor up.
Sad that I would rather do that than watch college basketballā¦but it is what it is right now. We are painful to watch and I donāt know if I can purposefully go watch it anymore this year.
3 plays in a row where our guys doubled down low, and Tulsa hit the 3. That was the game right there.
Thatās what I was referring to⦠disgusting.
We can't shoot the basketball: period. Layups, 3's, mid-range, and also today, free throws; doesn't matter because we can't make anything consistently. None of the other stuff matters as much when you can't do the numero uno essential thing: scoring. 25.9% won't win any intramural games.
We gave up the open 3ās in the first half to shut down Jordan, doubling him on most every entry pass. We held him scoreless, but let a bench player go 5-5 from behind the arc. We defended the perimeter better in the 2nd half, but Jordan scored all 16 of his points when we switched to guarding him 1-on-1. Pick your poison. With Wilderness out, we are nowhere near as good defensively. Bottom line, we shoot 35% and make 80% from the line weāre in the game despite our defensive woes. Until we learn how to shoot and score, the rest does not matter much.
Iām sorry, but we continued to double down low when Jordan was out and that white guy was in. He had horrible positioning on the baseline where he would have had a tough time doing anything and we doubled down from the wing and gave them 3 3ās in a row. **** like that is downright disturbing. Iāve never been so apathetic towards this team, even during DAās senior year. Same stupid mistakes that continue to define this team year in and year out. We are consistently consistent challenged.
Iām with NA and TRLeader on this one. I forgot there was a game today, so when I remembered, I logged in and heard the score was a 17 point lead for Tulsa, I proceeded to log out and do the laundry.
Effortās there, but itās not enjoyable to watch.
Just hope Wilderness can come back so that Jones, Wilderness, Harris, Coleman, and Goonj can get experience for next year.
Wow, what a bad day for my Niners. They really struggled. It was enough to make me feel bad about cheering for Tulsa. I decided to pull for Tulsa today due to the fact that I was conceived during a hurricane. (Agnes in June of '72) Otherwise, I wouldnāt have felt compelled to do so. But hey, Iām still pulling for the Niners to turn this season around!!!
I was most disappointed that Lutz didnāt go at any of the 3 Tulsa players that had 4 fouls with 9 minutes to go. I think that Jordan had 8 of his 16 points with 4 fouls. It would have been nice to sent Mack on an inside drive to get some of those bigs out of there.

Our perimeter defense continues to be as bad as Iāve ever seen. We were really hustling out there, you could see our guys were giving it their all (which seems lame to say, but think back to those temas who clearly werenāt), but it just did not happen and would not happen. Not pretty.
Well, the basketball team sucks so we are going to have to come up with some new ways to keep the fans coming out. Iām thinking we need to put the gold dusters in bikinis.
I must say that the Gold Dusters have been an area of improvement for the Charlotte Forty Niners.
Yelling at Bobby to finally give up with the friggin zone defense.I know it might have annoyed some of you in 106 but I just canāt stand it anymore.I think I snapped.I brought my brother to the game, his first 9er appearance and warned him of all the possible bad things that he might see.The last 2 were 1) AT SOME POINT,OUR COACH WILL PUT THE TEAM IN A ZONE,WHICH THEY REALLY DONāT KNOW HOW TO PLAY WELL ANYWAY AND THE OTHER TEAM WILL START HITTING OPEN 3āSā¦IT NEVER FAILSā¦and 2)WATCH OUT IF THIS KID ANDERSEN ISNāT HITTING THE ONLY THING HE SOMETIMES DOES WELLā¦SHOOT 3āSā¦HEāLL KEEP SHOOTING AND IT COULD GET UGLY!Guess Ian wasnāt blowing any kisses.
Pretty much where Iāve been for the last few years, despite still going to the games. Iām with the team physically and mentally, but emotionally, my heart just isnāt there anymore. Not really something Iāve been able to control but just the result of years of mediocrity while watching former conference foes continue to excel and give their fans something to be excited about.
I donāt think anyone should feel any guilt about leaving a game a few minutes early (I left with around 3-4 mins left) when the product is this abysmal. If the team isnāt going to command my attention then Iām not giving 100% of it to them.
Still a fan. Always have been and always will be. But my enthusiasm is nearing rock-bottom and from the looks of the stands yesterday, Iām not alone.
