I love that show. If I’m not watching the wire, I’m watching sunny

Sunny is a national treasure.

It definitely is, but the wire should be required viewing. Greatest show of all time and probably the greatest thing ever put on film.

I put it at two behind The Sopranos

I love the sopranos. Watched it twice, but i genuinely don’t think any show is especially close in quality to the wire., even the sopranos

The first five seasons of GoT were the best thing ever put on TV. Shame that GRRM didn’t finish the novels and D&D started going off script anyway.

Don’t think anyone has mentioned it, but the wife and I enjoyed Widow’s Bay. Did a good job of sticking the landing on the final episode and setting up season 2.

I can’t get past episode 2 of widows bay.

What am I missing Mac? I want to like it.

Will admit that I have gotten to the point where I’m notoriously impatient with show pacing anymore. There’s way too much stuff out there that is agonizingly paced where nothing happens until one episode where they blow the whole budget or whatever.

No. GOT might be good, but the writing on the wire, character development, realism, universal themes and rewatchability factor are unmatched. As close to perfect as you can get

I’m not a horror guy. I’d say it’s slightly horror adjacent. Thought it was enjoyable. Didn’t feel the slow pace to be honest, but I’ll have to say I don’t remember the first episode.

I enjoyed some of the comical takes on horror tropes. The last episode had a lost’ish vibe.

GOT, Lost, The Wire and Sopranos are somewhere in the 1- 4 range. I’m not going to try to pick between the 4 which is the best.

I will say that the Wire is a slow build and seems to get better. While GOT, Lost and Sopranos immediately hook you in, but slow a little as time goes on.

The world building in a show like GoT takes incredible talent / vision and is nearly impossible to replicate in a modern setting. I like shows like sopranos, etc, but they simply do not have that element. That said, people watch them for different reasons. If all you care about is character driven drama (which I like too, and GoT definitely also has), the setting doesn’t matter nearly as much. Different strokes and all that.

Different strokes…what you talking about willis!

Remove Lost and put in Breaking Bad and you nailed it. Breaking Bad is much better than Lost.

GOT, The Wire, Sopranos and Breaking Bad all have such good writing and keep you hooked, like NA said they don’t make shoes like that anymore.

At least watch it through episode 4 when Patricia has her party.

I also didn’t want to keep watching it but it hooked me after the second episode.

YouTube TV Sports bundle is the best deal around for sports fans - you get all the sports stations (including NFL Network) plus what we used to call basic cable (actually a little more than that) and ESPN Unlimited for $65.

Unless you really need the Hallmark channel, this is the best deal going.
