Ranked 199th National University with a score of 27 out of 100.
For reference, UNC-CH was #30 Nationally and App was the #10 Regional University.
A 69% acceptance rate? Unacceptable. But I wonder how much information is incorrect. They show us as having a enrollment of 20,283. Aren’t those pre-2006 numbers?

We’re a public U, 69% is great. As for 199th, that’s a drop of 10 places from last year, what happened?
Well we tied with several other schools for the 199th place. 69% isn’t that great. I was hoping to see 60%. Especially with rise in applications this last year.
ECU - 60.7%
App State - 61.78%
UNCG - 58.69%
High Point - 64.52%

Interesting, I thought we were actually getting a little pickier in our selection process since so many kids were now trying to go to college, etc. We also have to keep in mind we are a public university and our mission is primarily to serve the folks of NC. I don’t mind the acceptance rate, after all we don’t have the same mission as someone like Duke, etc.

Note high school counselor rankings. That gives you a bit more indication of how we’re thought of- since CHP won’t fill out the forms.
Also keep in mind that applications have increased and they said the average SAT scores have gone up - at least that is what the U said this summer when talking about the impact of football.
So it could be that the acceptance rate has increased but the quality of student has increased at the same time.
My sister is a high school teacher in Gaston County. She says Charlotte, App and ECU are now much more difficult to get into if you are a white male. If you’re female or minority it’s still fairly easy to get into any of them. Counselors at her school are encouraging white males to look into smaller private schools if they’re rejected by state schools.

Also to be considered is that we’re expected/planned to grow more than ASU, UNCG, etc. So it stands to reason we might have a higher acceptance rate than those schools.
That’s not surprising at all. That’s the way everything is now, especially jobs at large corporations. It’s part of this social justice movement that has really grown in the last few years, especially with the shift of our politicians to the left.
Something I saw recently said conservatives want opportunity for all, liberals want equality for all. So true.

Oh my God, I hate politics.
Yeah I wouldn’t put too much emphasis on how high the acceptance rate is for the school. I mean you can still have a high percentage rate and still rank pretty decent scores. At the bottom I am comparing charlotte with some other schools across the country that have the same acceptance rate or higher. I really think Phil filling out the forms could help are ranking.
School Rank acceptance rate
Charlotte 199 69
Kansas St. 139 98.9
Oregon 115 73
Purdue 65 68.3
Indiana 83 72.3
Oregon St. 139 77.7
Washington st. 125 82.5
Oklahoma 101 81.8
Iowa State 101 86.2
Iowa 72 79.8
Kansas 106 92.7
Oklahoma St 139 81.7
Arizona St 139 88.9

Lol. That and if you’re a school in the midwest you have to beg potential students to go there.
Seriously though it does show how abstract these rankings can be. How can Iowa have an 80% acceptance rate yet be 130 spots ahead of us in the rankings.

Not sure how true this is. It is likely that the companies or universities would take minorities over non-minorities if both are fairly equal in talent. However, it is discrimination even if the person not hired or admitted was a white male and they were clearly more qualified than the other candidate. Can’t choose Asian male over white male if white male scored 1500 on SAT and Asian scored 800. If white male scored 850 and asian male scored 800 then you probably could. Laws are in place to protect everyone.

After having witnessed “diversity” in action at Wachovia, and being on the wrong side of race and gender (white and male) I can say with 100% conviction that qualifications are secondary to the color of skin or sexual orientation. I don’t see why schools would be any different. They always sell it as “if they are equally qualified” but reality is much different.

Yeah, once you’ve been out in the workforce for a while that becomes pretty self evident.
