clt is pulling for bertram to find his shot
Thatās all we can do if Ron keeps insisting on giving him minutes. At this point, every time I see him or Vasic get the ball behind the arc I just cringe.
Man that was ugly to watch in person but I am glad we got the win. I felt a little better after hearing Sanchezās post game comments that he expected a game in the 40ās-50ās. Hopefully we can get a win Saturday.
We pass on good looks early in the offense regularly. At this point I assume itās coached to hold ball until later in the clock. I think some of our guys are scared to take an early shot regardless of how good it is. I donāt understand Bertram getting all these minutes. Just blows my mind. Iām not sure what he is bringing to the table. No shot, defense isnāt good, no size, no handle 
I would love to see Brice Williams with those minutes.
I do agree in long run having Shep out and other guys stepping up will pay dividends. Young bailed us out a few times tonight. We just have to get more effective on offense. I find it hard to believe these guys are really this bad at scoring.
Also on a break our guys need to learn how to pass the ball back.

Young is a gifted player. not sure Iāve been this excited about a niner freshman.
Not sure I understand why Shepherd being out is good for the team in the long run. The other players can practice in the practice gym. The ol step up concept is great and all but doesnāt make a role player better to not have the best player out there to take some pressure off. Heās our best offensive player. His biggest weakness is his 3pt% and needs to improve his assist to turnover ratio.
If you must, give Bertram 2 3pt attempts in the first half and if he misses both, sit him. Iām a fan of law of averages so even if his average will be 25%ā¦ he has a streak in him some whereā¦ maybe.
Players practice in the gym all the time. From all reports Bertram was a knock down shooter in practice but things are different when the spotlight is on and there are people in the stands. Itās never a bad thing to get younger guys more opportunities especially if you can still win the games. Unfortunately in this case it is due to injury.
Bertram is still a young guy who will grow. His shot is not falling, but he didnāt look like a liability on the floor to me. He needs to get some minutes and perhaps the coach needs to encourage him to shoot a 2pt shot to get going first. The kid was a great shooter in HS so I doubt that he forgot how.
Bertram is much better on D than he was at the start of the season. if his shot starts falling, heās gonna be just fine. hes much more confident on the defensive end right now. He swatted the ECU power forward once. was really good to see him get some confidence.
I agree that Bertram is much better on defense than he was at the start of the year. I was not sure if he could keep pace at this level, but last night he was very good on D even if his shot was not falling again. Since his defense if much improved, he will earn minutes and hopefully start putting the ball on the front and drive to the basket to try to get to the free throw line. It only takes a few shots to build confidence and he could be the threat we need. We will need him at some point this year or next year so glad he is growing.
I hate to break up the Tyler Bertram breakout theme we have going here, but he still graded out as our worst player and defender on a per minute basis last night.
Definitely agree our guys need to learn how to pass on a break. Guys drove into a crowd of defenders multiple times last night on the break when they had teammates trailing who could have had open shots. Itās okay if you can draw the foul but too many times we get our shots blocked and basically turn the ball over.

I donāt know what his percentages were in high school But almost every long range bomber goes through shooting droughts . To me he does two things wrong 1) rushes shots 2)too far out. When you rush itās not in rhythm and %ās go way down. We need somebody to step up offensively and last night without Shepherd we were more tentative than before . You can tell other players donāt trust Bertramās shot( so far for a good reason ) but if we are going to reach lofty goals this year IMO Bertram may be our best bet.

Can we run some set plays for Bertram if he is supposedly such a knock down shooter? Iāve love to see some set plays where he has a chance to shoot some 3s in rhythm.

I would agree with this sentiment about Bertram, Robb, and maybe a few other players given the opportunity. The way our offense is run we donāt set shooters up to succeed. Our offense is predicated on pass first and not looking at the basket much less attacking it. Most of our shots are rushed at the end of the shot clock instead of in rhythm through the offense.
I think our guards need to do a better job of feeding the post and relocating to an open spot. There were several times last night our post guys had their man in good position and our guards just swung the ball to the other side of the perimeter. Iād like so see us make that post pass and give Bamba or Supica a chance to make a play and if they double the guard shouldāve relocated for an open look.
I realize this is a system Sanchez is running but systems should always be evolving to the talent and situation.
iām gonna disagree slightly. take last night for instance. bertram was 0-3 from 3 and all were pretty wide open looks. we have had plenty of wide open looks from 3 as a team this season because of our good ball movement and we arent hitting them.

I agree with this 55. There are times when our offense works, and creates an open look, we just struggle to hit them.

I think Robb was 4-8 last night and had at least 2-3 of his misses that roll around the rim. I do not think he can be that person to put up 15 per night, but he can consistently get you 8-10 which would be a big help.
