3 to 10 years for shoplifting? There are some good things to be said about enforcing laws like that. 10 years may be a little harsh but even 3 years will make people think twice before stealing stuff.

People are dumb to think that they can go to another country and commit crimes that are a minor offense in the US. They better be glad that it was China and not Singapore. They announced on my flight to Singapore that if you had just a little bit of illegal drugs to leave it on the plane because it is punishable by death.
