When you get back the inevitable âI wonât change itâ email just let him know that ESPN, USA Today, CBSSPortsline and every other legitimate media outlet refer to us as Charlotte. Heâs just enforcing the fact that his podunk site is second tier, second rate and heâs just a hack.
now this manâŚIS A GENIUS
http://www.warrennolan.com/baseball/2008/rpi
he gets our name right, has a cleaner site, and has us at 19 in âhisâ ranking.
killer stat page tooâŚhttp://www.warrennolan.com/baseball/2008/stats
we are 2nd in nation for home field at 17-0, 5th in winning %, 4th in scoring margin, 11th in offense
Ugh⌠164 SOS. Thatâs only gonna get worse as we get deeper into A-10 play.
Most universities our size have a sports information person whose job it would be to deal with the media, and see to it that the media uses our correct name (That would be the one we choose, not the one Chapel Hill wants us to have) .
I say hire Jim Utter.

Is this supposed to be sarcasm?

Nice find!!

I say hire Jim Utter.:lmao::lmao::lmao: our baseball team has quite possibly the best SID in the NCAA
heâs not worried about 3rd rate RPI websites. Every major college baseball publication calls us Charlotte, and its clearly noted in the media guide for all to see.
Is this supposed to be sarcasm?
Not at all. Jim is a professional who understands how things work. I believe he could get things done.

We have one already, and Utter is running for President.
He will write an executive order forcing the W-S Journal to use the correct name too.

Could he do the same for our other sports? It would be nice if all sports were treated that way by the media.
Does each sport have its own Sports information person?

I throw my hat in the ring for Jimâs running mate.
I bring highlights from all 49er sports.

Thanks for posting that, each sport at Charlotte has someone in media relations.
Yeah,
depending on which coach from which sport I need to interview for the show or which athlete from which sports hosts the show, etc. Thatâs who I deal with. All sports have a media relations contact.

Thanks fordy.
Looks like Ryan Rose and Mary Beth Usher deserve a big thank you for getting the job done.

All our media people do an excellent job - they come up with a lot of the same issues we encounter when we email folks. Just last week, Ryan almost had to scrap with a piss-ant PA announcer at A&T who kept calling us âUNCCâ during the game.

Sounds like Ryan is doing a excellenter job than our basketball guy (or woman).

Well, we already have an SID for all of our sports, but I nominate Metro for International Ambassador of Baseball.
