When you get back the inevitable “I won’t change it” email just let him know that ESPN, USA Today, CBSSPortsline and every other [B]legitimate[/B] media outlet refer to us as Charlotte. He’s just enforcing the fact that his podunk site is second tier, second rate and he’s just a hack.

Most universities our size have a sports information person whose job it would be to deal with the media, and see to it that the media uses our correct name (That would be the one we choose, not the one Chapel Hill wants us to have) .

he’s not worried about 3rd rate RPI websites. Every major college baseball publication calls us Charlotte, and its clearly noted in the media guide for all to see.

Could he do the same for our other sports? It would be nice if all sports were treated that way by the media.

Yeah,
depending on which coach from which sport I need to interview for the show or which athlete from which sports hosts the show, etc. That’s who I deal with. All sports have a media relations contact.

All our media people do an excellent job - they come up with a lot of the same issues we encounter when we email folks. Just last week, Ryan almost had to scrap with a piss-ant PA announcer at A&T who kept calling us “UNCC” during the game.

Well, we already have an SID for all of our sports, but I nominate Metro for International Ambassador of Baseball.
