I don’t know that I’d take it that far as the CAA would still prefer to have us as an all-sports member. Who knows how much truth there was to the UNCW blogger’s posts, and of course David Scott gets hush hush from our AD.
That being said, if Villanova leaves for the Big East (maybe a 50/50 shot) I can’t see a more opportune time to make our case as a football only member and the CAA may just be inclined to say yes at that point to give their league some short term stability.
If Maine and UHN are determined to stay in the CAA then you’ll see Albany, Stony Brook, Central Conn. and Fordham all jump us for a CAA invite (assuming we stick to football-only).
Hopefully Fordham gets the invite, but for all sports only.... and then they leave the A-10.
Wouldn’t be much of a benefit unless they could get St. Bonnies, La Salle and Duquesne to go with them. Is the CAA that stupid? Let’s hope so.
In all honesty I think Fordham is on the bottom of the 4 I listed because (like us) they won’t want a full membership but the other three will probably jump at full CAA membership.
Duquesne has been just as relevant as we have the past 4 yrs. Possibly more so.[/quote]When people ask me who is in the A10, Duquesne is always the first to get the confused face.
They haven’t made the tournament since the 70’s.
We could very well be the next Duquesne, but right now, we’re way better known than they are.
