We had an pharmacy school teed up but declined it because we didn’t want to compete with Wingate. How’s that for some shit ass leadership.

It isn’t going to be easy. ECU had to lobby hard to get a medical school. We have to be strategic and determined to get anything. More Charlotte grads need to be in the legislature and in positions of power to lobby for our best interest.
The med school at ECU almost bankrupted the state. Our best hope at this point is a partnership with Novant. They’ve been shut out due to the Wake/Atrium merger and need a local pipeline

2.7 million people live in the greater Charlotte metro area. There are better reasons for a public medical school to be here than Greenville, NC.
I think UNC jumped on Novant when Wake/atrium kicked them out. UNC med students do rotations at Presbyterian now.
There has always been good healthcare in CLT. That has not been the case in eastern NC. Med school in Greenville elevated healthcare in the area and greatly improved the quality of life many of my family and friends. It serves a large area and not just Greenville.

I have no issue with ECU having a medical school. There should probably also be a public medical school in Asheville to better serve western NC along with a public medical school serving the Charlotte area. Public medical in Charlotte is likely to generate more research dollars due to the population and international airport.
I care so little about things like this I’m embarrassed at myself
I’d rather have a med school but I think that ship has sailed. Much lower costs associated with a law school but maybe with Elon coming in we missed that boat too. We could run a small law school, 50-70 students per class and it would help meet the regional need for lawyers, which is back up, but not cost an arm and a leg.

Didn’t know where else to put this. This is shown in the Triangle Area of North Carolina a lot. Have you seen it in the Charlotte Area? Any comments? What are non-Niner people saying about this commercial that you have heard?
