UNC-Elizabeth City?
actually nc wesleyan is different. they are a private college that the UNC system was looking to acquire, which didnt happen.

Actually, it was the other way around. Wesleyan wanted to be taken in by the UNC system.

This probably doesn't help the name change. I wish there was an article about a school doing the opposite.

Dude. Are you kidding me??

Elizabeth State is 100% a completely different story. They are a random small-time school in the middle of nowhere, desperately looking for more attention. They don’t have an identity, so they want to attach UNC to their name to help them build one. Makes sense.

We are a major doctoral/research University, one of the largest and fastest-growing in the state, with the 3rd biggest undergraduate population, in a rapidly expanding area in the biggest city in the Carolinas. We have an identity. We are Charlotte. We don’t want the UNC and we want to stand on our own.

This news doesn’t hurt the name change. In fact, it should help us realize where we are as a University and remind us that it is indeed time to stand on our own feet.
