UNCG aims for pharmacy school

what the hell… is all the professional schools supposed to be in the triad or at ECU?

UNCG aims for pharmacy school

UNC-Greensboro is making its pitch to become just the second public university in the state with a pharmacy school.UNCG chancellor Linda Brady thinks a new pharmacy school would ease a statewide pharmacist shortage and would not create competition with UNC-Chapel Hill, which currently operates the only pharmacy school within the UNC system.

Currently, the state’s drugstores, hospitals and other employers need more pharmacists than UNC-CH and the state’s other two pharmacy schools – Campbell University in Buies Creek and Wingate University near Charlotte – can produce. And Brady thinks a new pharmacy school in her region would spark economic growth in the Triad.

Interesting…

.

uncg is more likely to get the pharmacy school than we are to get a med or law school. uncg “knows their place”. and has no interest in becoming more competitive in sports.

I guess that’s why they are moving basketball games to the Coliseum, because they have no interest in improving? Come on.

They still have to get it past the BoG.

I am unsure of why the N&O is just now reporting this, it’s ancient news in the Triad.

A bold, forward thinking, visionary Chancellor who’s working hard to make the university grow, and stands strong and advocates a pharmacy school in spite of the mothership UNC-CH being the only other public school in the state with a pharmacy school??

Can we hire her?? Please???

It would never be approved by the BOG. Not now.

It would never be approved by the BOG. Not now.

Who cares? At least she has the balls to stand up and desire something bigger, something greater for her school. We don’t have that. Law school, med school, you name it. Our chancellor is a politician, not a leader. He’s a yes-man, not a visionary.

UNCG has major, major issues with land. They’re using a Greensboro Coliseum parking lot for student parking now. The homeowners in the area, while supportive, are very much against the taking of properties in the area fr growth as well. So from that standpoint, I’m not sure if they could get it approved. On the other hand, who does High Point University need to report to? If they want property, they simply make the homeowners a deal they can not refuse.

The problem is that they both are so heavily into the liberal arts that I’m not sure how a pharmacy school goes with their mission. On the other hand, they have a pharmaceutical manufacturer 5 than miles away which might be supportive.

I was wondering the same thing............ and they have probably the best overall liberal arts programs in the entire UNC System.

So what’s going to happen w/ our 2-year intro. pharmacy school before you transfer to Carolina?
We either need the full pharmacy program, or cut out the 2-year Carolina feeder program, because we shouldn’t be a feeder school.
You don’t want her as Chancellor. She shot down football at G-boro.

Give her time, she at least is trying to get 7,000 at a game in the Coliseum.
