wow, aren’t you late…

THIS IS FING AWESOME!! I can not believe we won. It’s a shame more Americans don’t care about soccer because this is freaking incredible. We manage to get past the group stage after getting hammered by Italy and Brazil and then beat Spain??

Spain had 0 - yes, ZERO - goals scored against them in the entire tournament until this game. They had the worlds longest international match winning streak, and we beat them. This is Fing HUGE.

God I wish I had seen this game live. Surely there will be a rebroadcast sometime. I gotta see this game.

GO USA!!!

wow, aren't you late.......
There was no other thread (that I found).

Better late than never?

Spain was the equivalent of the undefeated Patriots from two years ago and we were the Giants. Or maybe more like the Cardinals.

Or the Lions from this year?

Nah we aren't that bad. Making the world cup is somewhat impressive and we've done that in the last 5.

Predict the send off competition: Person who comes closest to the time when the refs find a cheap excuse to send off one of our players on Sunday wins!

I’m going with 28:00

I don’t know man… if they didn’t let Italy win, I don’t see how they could possibly be going to do it for anyone else.

Really tho, I just don’t see how FIFA would possibly want us to lose. Nothing would be better for them than if we won and our fan base and soccer’s fan base in the US grew more.

Or the Lions from this year?

We’re definitely not that bad, and we keep making strides. This is a big stride.

I predict 20 years from now we will be top five in the world. Basically every kid today plays soccer.

To the international community, we are.

I wasn’t trying to say how bad we are though, I was trying to compare the upset, rather than us to team A and them to team B.

Doesn’t matter how good we are or are not… Spain is the best team in the world… or was.

watched it live over my break and it was awesome. such a good game to watch.

Bad comparison, the US came into this cup ranked 14th in the world. But I agree, it was a huge win, but we have to build upon it. One win vs. Spain in the Confed Cup won’t mean anything if we have a poor showing in the World Cup.

Of course, I was jumping up and down yelling like a little kid when those goals were scored :P.

Definitely the greatest win the history of US soccer. Now we have to go out there on Sunday and play Brazil tough. We can’t allow another 3-0 embarrassment to happen. The world will be looking to see what we’re made of.

I’m a little bummed that this victory didn’t happen in the World Cup though. A lot of the world really doesn’t care about the Confederations Cup and considers it a worthless, unimportant tournament. Of course, that is not at all the case, since every team brings in their top roster.

edit: FIFA rankings are seriously worthless. It cracks me up how much they are used when soccer conversation pops up in the US. Seriously, everyone else thinks they are a joke and that’s because they are. In their formula, a friendly win is just as important as a WC win. That is a joke.

edit: nevermind, I just looked into it, it seems they have revised it to where different matches of different importance are scored differently. Still, rankings and soccer just don’t work.

Brazil didn’t bring in Rohnaldino.

We were ranked #4 going into the last world cup.

Highest I saw was #5, but we were seeded based upon an 8th ranking.

Hahahaha good one

Oh, I seriously thought you were making a joke. Anyone who follows soccer knows that Ronaldinho has been done as a player and most definitely as a national team player for about a year or so.

Dunga (Brazil’s coach) has at least ten guys to pick from from the Brazilian league that are better than him and have more potential.

Ronaldinho is just a lazy fatty who had a prime of about 1.5 years.

I’d take Ronaldinho over Kleberson, who’s old as well or even Julio Baptista. But you’re right though, there’s a crop full of attacking mids that Dunga can choose from. Anderson, being hurt, isn’t this squad, but there’s another attacking mid that will be on the WC Roster.

Hey if they are going to bring out Ronaldinho, then we better watch out for his buddy Ronaldo too!
