USM signs contract with ADIDAS worth more than $4,000,000

Adidas will become the sole outfitter of all 16 sports beginning in 2018, the school announced in a release Tuesday. Specific financial terms of the deal, which runs through the 2024-2025 season, will not be available publically since it was negotiated through the USM Athletic Foundation.

But, according to a source familiar with the negotiations willing to speak on the condition of anonymity, Southern Miss’ agreement with Adidas will net “well north of $4 million” in product allocation. In addition, Adidas will allot a dollar amount “in the low- to- mid-six figures” for product activation (i.e. advertising, recruiting, etc.).

They might pay us 5 bucks

I see in the press release that our Golf coaches are excited about this deal, but I thought that Nike was getting out of the golf business. Maybe I am confused? Maybe they are just being good team players by being happy. Anyway, I like the Nike deal, and I hope we are getting good money out of this.

I get that this is going to come across as petty, I just wish they’d tell us. 99% of athletic departments in the US release this information. I just don’t understand why we don’t. I know we aren’t going to be getting much. I can understand two reasons why they wouldn’t.

  1. the value of our deal is laughable

  2. They really just want to be a pain in the rear end.

Nike no longer makes baseball equipment either. Rawlings made all of our gear, equipment, and jerseys the past few years. Last year we just wore Nike shoes. Curious to see how the gear will be split between the 2 now.
