Poor coaching decisions - we were destroying their corner and then went away from it totally and dont get me started on the fake fg. The officials were absolute trash. It wasnât 1 or 2 50/50 calls. They were literally back to back to back obvious calls that went against us. I am at a loss at those calls. For a team like us with a small margin of error we canât overcome both poor coaching decisions and terrible officials.
Mullen-Same stupid coaching, same stupid play calls, same stupid results
By the way, did anyone see the deal at the end when the refs were running off the field? I saw a 49ers helmet come close to hitting the head ref and when I looked at where it came from Larry didnât have his. I really hope he didnât actually throw it.
Ya know if he did - I donât even care except for the fact that apparently it missed itâs target.
If the helmet came up short, probably McNeil, if it was an overthrow definitely Barden
How was fan turnout and atmosphere for the last game?

There were a lot of family related things that got bumped to this week. Just about anyone with kids had games bumped back to this weekend because of the rain earlier in the fall.

This. Our coaching staff has made very poor decisions all year and let the kids down. I seriously feel like our athletics dept doesnât want to win.
You guys need to relax and not worry about it. Iâm sure thatâs what Judy and chp are doing right now. chp is probably enjoying an appletini and Judy is probably relieved that such a busy week is over with.
I thought the turnout was good and the fans in our section were more vocal as the game went on.
Weather was nice, thatâs all I can say.
One thing not mentioned: PENALTIES! How many times did we keep their drive alive with a 3rd or 4th down penalty? Roughing the Kicker on 4th down and Roughing the Passer on 3rd down immediately come to mind.
Yes, they were reviewing the fumble after we had already snapped the ball and ran another play. The ref said that it was a fumble and UTSA had recovered, but were out of bounds when they did. UTSA only heard the part where the ref said they recovered, so they started celebrating, but they missed the part where the ref said their player was out of bounds when he recovered the fumble. So, I did get some enjoyment when their spirits were dashed when they found out that we still had possession.
I donât know that he intentionally threw it at the ref, it looked to me like he just chucked it out of frustration.

But, the whole fumble should have been a moot point right? We snapped the ball and ran a play. They acknowledged the next play (inside run) happened by saying âthere was no flag ON THE PLAYâ (THE PLAY being the inside run/punch play).
So they let us run a play, and threw a flag after it, then picked up the flag, then went to review a prior play? GREAT officiating crewâŚ
penalties (always at the wrong moments) and once again TURNOVERS but theres nothing new about that cuz we always turn the ball over

There have been some very questionable coaching decisions several times this year. These were the ones from today that have me scratching my head.
- The fake FG at the end of the first half, when a short FG puts us up two scores.
- Playing for a FG at the end of the 4th quarter (not attempting a pass on 3rd & 6 to try to keep the drive going to possibly get the game winning TD).
- Running the pass play from the 2 when Matt has been able to pick up at least 2 yards all game on his running plays.
It just seems like times when the need to be conservative, they out-think themselves and run some unnecessary risky play. And when they need to be a little more aggressive, they will run 3 straight run plays between the tackles. It doesnât make sense sometimes.
Mullen is just atrocious. Just look at the strides our defense has made with a competent d coordinator. Do what needs to be done Brad.
It does seem like Mullen is using a magic 8-ball to make his play calls.
