Parks was a Niner, and heās a pure pg who wouldāve been an option for next year.
Another paper has it coveredā¦
TheCharlottePost.com: Hampton leads JCSU basketball class
But they refer to it after the fact. In the article Parks is a JCSU player who just happened to play for Charlotte last year.
This is so much more of a JC Smith story than a Charlotte story and the Observer never has anything to say about JC Smith unless they play us or the CIAA Tournament is going on.
This hypersensitivity is completely unwarranted, Trevin only saw time in blowouts, Kyle Church graduating should have been a front page story then because he was actually part of the game plan in 2008-09. Why arenāt we wasting our time bitching about it.
Good Luck to Trevin and JC Smith.

agreed. lets get back on topic.

Youāre right. It is SO much more of a JCSU story. Why? B/c thatās what was printed.
Hypersensitivity? ā¦Sorry my friend, but Parksā absence from our team, to some extent, actually matters.
agreed. their bias against us goes beyond not liking us. it reaches intentional aspirations of keeping interest of our team at a minimum.
if Chapel Hill had a walk on transfer MAYBE they would get a write up
correct. they did. and why is it ok for the tarholes to get writeups while we do not? itās called āREPORTING THE NEWSā. not promoting the alma mater of the sports editor. i agree. this is small. but the s*** mike did to us during cusa was enough to set us back 10 years from a fan support view.
Do you have a link for said write-up, or at least the walk onās name?
what other fan bases care so much about a walk-on transferring? offseason is in full circle.
Bona fans per Kelvin Agee, who also transferred to a D-II program. Hasnāt been a lot to be happy about in Olean with coach, player, and signee defections, plus the death of the Bonnies first All-American player, Tom Stith.
When youāre as thin as we are at pg, itās a big deal. Derrio is a sg, Briscoe (by looking at his stats and some video) seems to have been more of a sg than pg at Central, and Voncina is a pg but is a freshman. Parks would have provided at least some true-pg experience to back these guys up and be an injury insurance policy. Not huge news, but still a fairly big deal none the less.
Having seen him play on numerous occasions at Central,AAU,High School⦠I would classify Briscoe as a PG (distributor/playmaker) who can score as opposed to a SG who plays the point.
However I do agree that his role at NCCU was primarily a scorer.
Well, Trevin will do fine at JCSU. I believe he will also be missed @ Charlotte. True he was a walkon but let me remind you he is a human being also. Given the oppurtunity I believe he would have changed a lot of your opinions. Just remember that he had to have done something to get these oppurtunities and weāre thankful to JCSU.
You canāt say anything bad about Trevinās decision. He came to work his way onto a scholarship under Lutz, and I think he stood a good shot at doing so before the coaching change. Once that opportunity was gone he did what was best for him, and I respect that.
I wish only the best for Trevin and hope he does great things at JCSU. That being said, I donāt think weāll notice heās gone once the season starts.
Fixed. I agree with you moss that this isnāt earth-shattering news by any stretch, but if Briscoe, Derrio, or Voncina go down with a serious injury (and with our luck Iām sure it will happen at some point), I think weāll wish Parks was still here.
I think he was told he had the opportunity to but realistically I donāt think it was going to happen. Lutz already had Briscoe at point, a commitment from Jarvis Davis, and we were after some 2011 pgās as well as Tyler Lewis. Also had he believed Parks could earn a schollie I do believe he would have seen more time this year. Iām glad he is getting a shot at JCSU and hope he does well.
This thread is hilarious.
Trevin made the decision late in the year when Lutz was still here. It wasnāt about scholarship, it was about wanting to play. His role would have probably moved from mop up in blowouts to 2-4 minutes in some foul situation games. He wasnāt going to get in top 10 spots in rotation.
We were thin at PG last year and Parks didnāt play. Parks was a walk-on. He was not going to play this year either. Injuries or not.
This.
Yep- as bad as Harris was late in the year, if he didnāt play then that should tell you something. Not meaning to knock Harris, just calling it like I saw it.
