We got hammered by the refs

I believe that most refs can’t stand charlotte, how can they blow the ball dead, and then count a layup when withers just handed him the ball to shoot another ft. There were two times when the marquette player stepped out of bounds and timeouts were magically given to them.

I for one, cannot believe Bobby didn’t go nutz over a few of those calls…I kept waiting for a T!!!

Complaining about officiating is getting old, guys. If you think like a victim, you’re a victim. Officiating is no worse for you than any other team.

C-USA refs let everything go under the basket. They like to call every little ticky-tack in the back court. Charlotte should play dirtier(more physical) inside on defense. They would get away with it almost as much as UC and Marquette do.

Um, what? Its getting old for you? Well, then, here’s a tip, genius: Skip the thread complaining about the refs. And quit complaining about other people complaining.

I agree for the most part. Blaming refs usually sucks. But that free throw situation was ridiculous and ghastly. Not sure if you saw the game, Mike, but i’ve never seen a basket, or for that matter, any other play count after a whistle has blown the play dead.

Those refs were fun, the TO’s were awesome. I mean, you could literally call Time Out anywhere on the court even if you didn’t have the ball.

Let’s not forget the jumpball call when we had possession of the ball and no Marquette player had a hand on the ball.

Mike, thank you. The refs we no worse today than any day. It’ not skewed against us. Couple of bad calls on us, couple on them. The time out given to them was dumb, but that’s called to much anyway.

QUIT F###ING CRYING PEOPLE. YOU MAKE US ALL LOOK LIKE PUS##"S.

Hahaha, you complained about people complaining…

That’s hilarious.

im almost positive they called that inadvertant, there were no other jump balls in the first half, we won the tip and still got the ball.

i cant believe nobody has said anything about novak grabbing basdens shirt and not getting the intentional

[QUOTE]

did you watch the game?? Because if you did, you would have seen the FT fiasco and the jump ball that was called then reversed. even the announcer said the head of CUSA officials will have to take a look at some of the calls. The crew was not very good. It was easy to see if you watched the game.

Actually I think Lutz has said in one form or another that they way refs are calling games is changing his recruiting focus away from players like EJ and more towards players like Nance.

To the effect that ā€˜Refs claim they will call games tighter each year, but never do’

Is that complaining?

You didn’t even have to be on the court. Novak never had posession of the ball when he called the second timout, and he was already out of bounds when he finally grabbed it.

Basketball is SUPPOSED to be a finesse game. Each year it’s becoming more and more like football, especially in the lane. To be succesful, you have to have more players like Eric Hicks and less of those like EJ. Ones with no shooting touch whatsoever, and ones who can beat the hell out of your opponent when the refs won’t call fouls.

Refereeing overall seems to get worse and worse every year. Since we’re getting the 2nd or 3rd tier referees most every game, that’s not good for us. And, yes, I will complain when the refs are terrible. I cussed at my TV several times today and wanted to kick Diener’s and the ref’s @$$e$ for that play. If Withers would have reacted quick enough, I wish he would have fouled the $hit out of him. Of course, that would have been called. :cuss: :ticked:

omg that was GREAT when that kid shot the freethrow and got it back… the ref blew the whistle… and he was standing in the lane. And come on now guys… you didn’t know you could stand out of bounds and call a time-out? geez where have you been?

I thought a better call on that one would of been a travel on Withers as he walked towards the referee, dis-allowing the basket and giving the ball to Marquette out of bounds. That would of been a better compromise.

Persinger whining about people whining about officials.???

UNC_Chapel Hole invented whining…Have you ever heard of Woody Durham? GEEZ

Damn, that is FUNNY!!!1

News flash fpr Persinger…We won the game DA, we are complaing because
of mysterious to’s called when a player did not have the ball, complaining when officials on a missed ft ask for the ball when they do not know it is a one and one and give the ft shooter a field goal even when the blow the ball dead get a grip Persinger…

There are bad calls in most every game against both teams. Deal with it, because it’s not gonna change. I’d avoid the threads complaining about the refs, but I’d have to avoid about half of all those on here.

SF, it’s the sign of a weak mind to resort to name-calling.

Then call me weak minded I call it passion.

Your post sounded holier than thou

I will say this , if it was your beloved UNC-CH you would be singing a different song

The refs blew several calls today, including one where we fouled the hell out of Novak as he launched a 3. Plav got the ball and was fouled, though he missed a FT.

Those other calls that everyone is upset about - those were a travesty, an embarassment to the profession. It’s our job and our right to provide feedback when the officiating is that bad. And frankly, I resent people telling our fans to shutup about it.

Come to think of it though, at least we didn’t get stuck with TV Ted like Cincy & Wake did. <_<

Complain if you want. There were some bad calls. Officiating in college basketball is inconsistent. They miss calls, both ways, in every game. NA knows me well, and he’s never heard me complain about officiating as the reason for a loss. The mistakes usually balance out, roughly, over the course of a season. Now, a question you can ask: Does Bobby Lutz’s incessant griping at the refs cost your team calls? I don’t know. Maybe.

i agree, the calls today had nothing to do with calls against the niners. they were bad calls period. the officials were an embarassment to their profession. And we do have a right to complain about the terrible calls made in the game. These guys are professional officials and should be able to call a game correctly.
