What do you want to see happen with final 2014 scholarship? (poll)

It’s the off-season. I’m all for a HM transfer if we can snag one.

Would like to bring in a big that can contribute immediately.

5th year transfer would be optimal, since it leaves us an open 2015 scholarship.

Give it to my daughter as a “thank you” for our years of loyal support. ;D

I agree. I just want to win now. I’m good with either a 5th year senior transfer or Juco who can help immediately. If he were either a ‘lights out shooting’ or ‘shot blocking’ specialist, that would be good with me, as I think those are areas we lack.

Juco, Willie and Thorne, that’s a lot to deal with.

Ditto this. Only other reason to use it this year would be if a good recruit got his release from a committment after a coaching change, and we then had the opportunity to sign him.

Someone who can hit a ft please.

What ever helps 2014-2015 the most…

5th year/graduate transfer is ideal for several reasons including:

  1. he comes in experienced for a needed position
  2. still leaves 2015 open for 3 'ships
  3. would immediately help out in a critical year for Major*
  • With a strong showing in 2014 we can land VJ King for 2015 or help recruiting in general (otherwise, another mediocre year probably means we start from scratch AGAIN with a new coach)

-a HS recruit will probably be of Bryan or Blakely caliber this late in the game and won’t guarantee solid contribution/ low potential. Major could get canned and we would be stuck with him.

-Juco eats up scholly opportunity for 2015 and we might need as many options available as possible because anything could happen.

If we get King it would be amazing, that being said I’m not holding my breath.

We need to have 1 good season before we can have 2 in a row… So if its a juco that we need to get, I’ll worry about 15/16 then.

King is a 2016 kid, so need to wrap up 2014 and 2015 classes before worrying about him.

I like Bryan, his jump shot can really help our offense- but he was limited in his freshman year. Its just hard to find and secure HS talent when classes start in 4 months

I’m not opposed to getting a talented kid that needs to sit, similar to Lester.

Does Robert Jackson (6’10 / 260 F) have any eligibility left?

Someone, preferably a big who can contribute IMMEDIATELY…Before Major The Cat’s 9th life runs out.

As previous poster said…I’ll worry about 2015 later

Agree. And, really, if you count Sullivan, we are already losing 3 bigs in 1 class - so this would be 4. I don’t care about long term planning, anymore though. I just want kids who can help us win now. If it is a juco 3 point specialist I’m still OK with it. Coaching staff just has to assess our needs for next year and get someone who can contribute right away in some fashion.

When you did the poll…why didn’t you combine Juco and 5th year grad ?..Same thing really, probably.

I am with you. We have 13 scholarships and if the JUCO gets over-recruited his second year he can be five fouls. We should be so lucky to have the problem.
