What George Mason in the Final 4 means to us??

Now thanks to George Mason any kid we recruit we can say "Come to Charlotte and you have just as good a chance getting to the final 4 as __________ (Insert BCS school here). And now recruits will believe it. This could really help change the landscape of college basketball.

With the recruits we have coming in next year and the group coming in 07 we will be a team with Final 4 potential.

This is very true but we must get 4 year players. we must start to stray away from Juco’s get kids to know our offense for 4 years not just 2 years.

I think the class we have coming in fits that bill. We have had several Jucos over the last several years, but they are brought in to fill immediate holes. The core of our team has always been 4 year players ie Eddie, CW, Mitch, Lee, Jobey, Diego and the list goes on. I think current students are under the incorrect perception that we rely on Jucos. We have be fortune to attract several big time tranfers, but those players are almost always starters and the Juco’s are for immediate needs and depth.

Every school can say the same thing. Unfortunately, Geaorge Mason will likely get ZERO addtional national television games next year. In the grand scheme of things, this changes nothing for Charlotte in particular.

Yeah, just like nothing changed for Gonzaga after they experience some tourney success…And they only made it the the great 8… You never hear anything about them or get to see them on TV…

I think it has been easier to push Gonzaga because you can throw them on ESPN at midnight EST.

I think how George Mason follows up this season will determine if it can follow the footsteps of Gonzaga, regardless of what happens next weekend.

First, you are an idiot.

Second, I never said that George Mason wouldn’t benefit from this. The original post surmised that this would change the landscape of college basketball and I completely disagree. The majors will continue to get the big names, the national television, and the majority of the ink throughout the season.

Now you may return to whatever it is that retards do on a Sunday night.

I'll have you know that I'm the only retard on this forum!

Wow, that really hurts when a person of your statue insults me. It really makes me wonder if i should post anymore or even if I should continue to go on living…

Oh thats right your a nobody…nevermind.

First, you are an idiot.

And second, if anyone calls the condom an idiot, it’s me. And make no doubt about it, he is one of the BIGGEST…(nevermind, that’s neither here nor there)

And third, he actually has kind of a point, and he almost never does so… With all the discussion about mid-majors, this year in particular, it will help George Mason and other mid majors in getting in the tourney for years to come. No more ā€˜they are a mid major, they don’t belong…’ talk, at least for a while. And this will have an effect in recruiting a kid in trying to convince him that he does not have to go to one of the big schools to get in/win in the tourney.

But before this helps Charlotte in particular, Charlotte needs to step up and ā€˜make its own road’. It looks positive on paper for next year. On paper.

it means a team that wears green can be a final four team.

our team has potential (on paper). It is up to them what they do with that potential.

I want four year players but you do not pass up on potential star transfers. Brendan Plavich, De’Angelo Alexander, Sean Colson

Don’t tell Michigan St.

There is a recruiting forum here, about 2 clicks away in fact. We have 4 high schoolers coming in in the fall (at least) and already have two signed up for 2007, one of them is suppossed to be pretty good, I think he name is ā€œHarmonā€ā€¦

We have been forced to get JUCO stopgaps the past few years, but we are back getting high school players again. 3 state players of the year, not a bad group for a JUCO school.

You are right that we need to rely less on JUCOs, but we are already taking steps toward that in a big way, your argument would have worked a little better a year ago.

George Mason is in the powerhouse CAA conference.

Its alot harder to get to the Final Four when your conference struggles to get two bids.

I think they sit around and try to eat their nose!

G Mason is the next Gonzaga.
I hope they have a good Rpi next year, because the big schools might ditch them to keep them out next year. Look out for the screw job.
This should finally open the playing field to parity, unless the BCS conferences try to fight it, which they will.

they have already been trying to fight it. why do you think packer made such a big stink about it when the pairings were announced. it’s a good thing it backfired on him.

the schools and conferences themselves can’t admit it but they can get broadcasters and newspaper editors with ties to their school or on the conference payroll to do their fighting for them.

forget how well George Mason has done in the tournament. look at their resume before the tournament started and you’ll see that they didn’t deserve to get in, especially when compared to inconference foe Hofstra or other teams like Cincinnati. To me it doesn’t matter if GM has beatin Mich State, UNC, or UCONN, they didn’t deserve to be there to begin with. If they are such a quality team then what does it mean that Hofstra (virtually the same in every way) beat them twice in two weeks at the end of the season?

Apparently everyone believes that the committe made an excellent choice in picking GM, but what about Utah State and Air Force, teams that had no reason being there. How far did they go? I guess everyone is having short term memory loss. The committee got lucky, their teams and seedings were horrific (exs: tenn #2, gw #8). Please don’t let one lucky team make you forget.

George Mason is no Gonzaga.

Can you imagine an LSU/George Mason championship game? Ratings might be lower than Fox News Rising.
