In games we shoot less than 25 threes, we have won them all except the first Dayton game, in which we shot 24 3’s. In games where we shoot 25+ 3’s we are winless. Yet we contiunue to shoot 25-40 3’s a game. It almost makes me want to barf. And it is the number one reason we suck, And will continue to get worse. I watch our games online or listen to them, but its only due to loyalty. I basically hate what our program has become.

This stat alone (like all stats) can be misleading. I think you need to know when the 3s were heaved. Were they shot mostly at the beginning of the game, aimlessly for no apparent reason? Or, were they mostly shot toward the end, in a desperate attempt to catch up? It makes a difference in the conclusion you want to determine.
It may be we won those games BECAUSE we did NOT HAVE to hit 3s to compete. Or, we lost is a flurry of desperate 3s trying to come back, and couldn’t.
Game situations dictate how many 3’s you can shoot. As long as Lutz is your coach, you can count on lots of 3 point shots.

As true as that might seem, I’ve seen us blow several leads by just shooting 3’s when we should be working it around, getting time off the clock, and going for quality shots. As soon as the other team starts making a run, whether we’re up or down, we counter by throwing up bad threes. If we make them, we win, if we miss, we lose. Shit, did we score a two pointer in the first half of that St. Louis game? I don’t think we did. I only remember 3’s and free throws.
