actually it is a conspiracy, the NE dominated media writes about the same teams over and over and over and over (Jets, Giants, Pats, Steelers, Eagles) —oh and Yankees/Redsox.
the NFC south is clearly the toughest division in all of football, you’d never know it compared to the NFC and AFC east
Until the recent collapse of the bills, I would say that the AFC East could give any division a run for their money. I do think the NFC south is the strongest, at least in the NFC, but the AFC East and South are no jokes.
The NFC East was supposed to be the division this year and the Giants certainly haven’t disappointed, but I think the media centers there almost guarentee that they get more attention than they deserve.
I hear plenty about the panthers, I see them on sportscenter and they get love. Outside of the TB MNF game, they haven’t really had a newsworthy season. Sort of like the Steelers. I don’t hear much about them this season, yet they are 1 game out of first place in the AFC. If the Titans hadn’t been undefeated for so long, you wouldn’t hear anything about them either. The reason those teams aren’t getting as much attention as they might deserve, they play ugly, ugly football. But all three teams are legit and I’d say (along with the Giants) that your Super Bowl champ is in that pool.
cbs sports gets it- great article too

Good Article but I’m not sure cbs gets it as much as we would like. The first thing I noticed after clicking the link is the poll asking which team was most impressive in week 15. The Panthers aren’t even a choice.
The media attention goes in cycles of who is performing. The Giants were the hot team early and got all the hype…the Titans were undefeated and got the hype…Jets won 2 big road games over the Patriots and Titans and got the hype…now the Panthers are the hot team and will get the hype, especially if they go into Giants Stadium and win like they probably should.
The Cowboys are always going to get attention, because they are the Cowboys, and they also being a ton of attention to themselves as well…but the other teams get praise when it is deserved.

and that is why I hate the Cowboys. They have not won a playoff game since Troy, Emmit, and Irvin in 1996.

Gotta also love how they kept cutting to the KC/SD game. Ahem, who give a crap, that was basically the toilet bowl and I also know you have find a bright spot on every team but everyone loves Rivers and Brees, even though their teams are pathetic dogs. Just because you throw for a billionty yards dosen’t make you a winner. One last point, I am happy that Atlanta won, but can the media quit gushing about how they got past a beat down TB team at home in OT, a team by the way that was missing its two starting DT’s (Hovan was there for the Panthers) and most importantly no Garcia, good win but hardly as impressive as the Panthers.

Hell Jeff Mullins was still our coach then.
So you’re saying, we too, were winning in the playoffs then.
That was a long time ago.
FWIW, I believe it is either tonight for countdown or next weekend they’re doing a story on Stewart and Williams. Pretty sure I saw that promo, but I am a fibber.
No way. It was beautiful. That Steeler defense is the best I’ve personally seen. Even better than the '95-'96 Superbowl Team.
I only saw the end of the game. I love great defense, but the Steelers offense is still hard to watch.
I know Ray Lewis is ancient but he can still play the game and his antics are sometimes over the top but I sure as hell would wanna play for that guy. I wanted to put pads on and hit somebody at the bar yesterday.
Steelers win the way you should always look to win, by stopping the other team from scoring. You can always score on defense but no matter how you grind the clock the other team will still get a shot at the basket/endzone.
i prefer the panthers going under the radar. i’d much rather hear about tom brady having a broken leg rather then talking about how good the panthers are. I’ve seen them play twice, and they are good, like legit super bowl contender good (knock on wood…), they just don’t look great statistically. They’re around 20th in passing offense, the rushing offense brings them up to i think 13th in the leage in overall offense, or something close to that. stastically we don’t look great, but our record and the teams we’ve beatin’ are legit. let people keep talking about the titans, dolphins, pats, and the jets, our players don’t need credit. every panther fan knows when we are given too much spotlight, we don’t come to play the next week. (excluding the monday night win going into the bronco’s game)
it’s all about product synergy. NBC has the sunday night carolina-ny giants game, espn doesn’t. no need to start hyping this match up for a rival network.
Winnar.
And I paid a whopping $14 for ESPN insider plus a year of their mag, which I actually read.
No one likes us, no one likes NC, no one likes the South. We’re being held back by CT Yankees. Which is surprising since ESPN Regional is in Charlotte, those ungrateful bastards.
Watching sportscenter (aka NFC East News), they show the Panthers/Giants matchup. Then they proceed to show Coughlin talking, then 3 other Giants, then the wonderful… Sal Palaimanidiot. No interview with any panther, no update on any panther. Then they proceed to talk about the Cowgirls… Got to love ESPNFL East.
