What is wrong with ESPN.com??

The Panthers route an 8-5 team, and are 11-3

Steve Smith has 165 yd rec

Our owner, who is almost dead shows up dramatically

the win sets up showdown at Meadowlands

YET NO MENTION OF THE PANTHER GAME ON ESPN.COM HOMPAGE OR NFL PAGE

same old stuff: Steelers, Pats, Jets, Dolphins, Cowboys

(guess its all about attracting the biggest fanbasesto generate more webclicks)

Can’t say I disagree.

and of course… you have to have the obligatory ESPN.com mention of the sorry Chargers and Packers losses.

cbs sports gets it- great article too

Hey, don’t hate on the Fins. They are a great story this year.

ehhh. I guess.

they did what I expected, you know if the Tuna comes in, you are going to win 9 games and be ok, not great

anyway back on topic, www.nfl.com does it right:

So you expected them to go from 1-15 to 9-7 at worst in one season?

You should bet, you would be a rich man.

don’t go to ESPN.com, they are far worse than either CNNsi.com or CBS sportsline. Not only can you not navigate to any single page w/o five orbitz pop-ups cramming up your browser but if you want to read a column or opinion on ANYTHING you have to get the “insider” pass. Plus I like Kenny Maine but I’m sick and tired of this Internet TV show they are trying to cram down our throats, enough already!

Yeah qft. Anyone who pays that insider subscription is a baffoon. And the auto playing vids are brutal. I have yet to watch any of Kenny Mayne bs, he’s sort of funny but I don’t go there for his stand up routine.

it’s all about product synergy. NBC has the sunday night carolina-ny giants game, espn doesn’t. no need to start hyping this match up for a rival network.

As a die hard broncos fan, we were by far the worst 8-5 team I had ever seen. Congrats you routed a team that got routed by Oakland and KC. There are 6 RB’s on IR and I believe 15 total players on the IR (most in the NFL by a decent amount).

I will say this though, you guys are a good team. I think you will win a game or two in the playoffs, three maybe (taking into account the bye).

I just don’t think routing a team with a defense like a sieve, and a running game made together from elmers glue and styrofoam is front page material.

did the game even sellout?

i saw empty seats on tv, but I wasn’t there so I can’t be sure. The boxscore says 73,000+ but that number is always inflated.

well if you are going to insert all those stats, be consisten. I’d say the Panthers shut down the 2nd best offense in the NFL.

8-5 is 8-5.

yes it was a sellout, and full

the only time there is empty seats is when the 2nd half starts, and that is because the concession lines are too long and people are still in line *or smoking.

I don’t recall all of the NFL blackout rules, but I think the game would’ve been blacked out within a 50-75 mile radius if it had not been a sellout.

How many people were there? totally different story. I did seem to notice a few more empty seats than I expected. Oh well, it is what it is.

Most important thing was that the team won.

In the NFL right now, there are a few real good teams:

Titans, Giants, Panthers, Steelers

some playoff caliber teams:

Colts, Dolphins, Patriots, Cowboys and Cardinals

2 teams that would struggle against a D-II school:

Lions and Bengals

and finally there is everyone else.

Well maybe its universal, peter king, consumate panther hater mentions nothing, NOTHING about the panthers game in his column. Just about how the steelers pulled one out their a** and once again how great Atlanta is and the topper is he actually praised Atlanta’s offensive coordinator as coach of the week for ONE play in OT in a 13-10 game. They also claimed the Panthers won B/C Denver didn’t show up and still have the giants ranked above the Panthers even though they admit they have played like crap the last 2 weeks. In the words of the late great Rodney Dangerfield “no respect, no respect at all”

here we go baby…The Sporting News spreading cheer

IT’S A CONSPIRACY!! CALL THE FBI!

It’s not that big of a deal. Besides, it’s pretty much the law to write an article or two on the winner of the Superbowl, so we’re in good shape.

actually it is a conspiracy, the NE dominated media writes about the same teams over and over and over and over (Jets, Giants, Pats, Steelers, Eagles) —oh and Yankees/Redsox.

the NFC south is clearly the toughest division in all of football, you’d never know it compared to the NFC and AFC east

That’s right. Every media organization in the entire world is out to get the Charlotte-metro area.
