If there is no announcement Monday, I expect no changes to be made.
Iād rather if thereās an announcement Monday, it be that weāre finally breaking ground on the stadium expansion
If Ronās model is dependent on keeping roster continuity then thatās reason enough to move on given todays college basketball player movement.
Let me put Ronās performance into perspective: even Patrick Ewing somehow found a way to win some conference tournament games in a much tougher league & got into the NCAA Tournament. Ron canāt even do that. Ewing was terrible but even he somehow got it done & still got canned. This is a results business. Win or get out.
No changes are being made. Iām telling youā¦Iāve exchanged communications with Mike on just a few occasions about Ronā¦He doesnāt use impartial or neutral ācoach speakā when it comes to discussing Ron. His defense of Sanchez is detailed, passionate and defiantā¦like a husband defending their wife.
It really is like Healy was with West. Healy would have never fired West. Worst defense in the country didnāt matter. It took a lot of urging for West to find another job on his own to save Healy from itā¦but Healy would have never fired him even if it meant his own job (which ultimately in pretty much did).
Hill is the same with Ron. They will take the fall together if it comes to that but Hill isnāt bailing on Ron anytime soon imo.
Fan base to Mike after telling everybody to trust him on thisā¦

Most jobs dont give you 5 years to achieve goals.
I didnāt see it first hand, but the thing that gets me the most is Ron stating the goal for this year was to finish in the top half of the league in that last pregame.
If that was really the goal, then shame on Mike. And if it wasnāt the goal, then donāt change the goal because you didnāt get there.
That statement added to how so many times he has decided to throw other people under the bus on postgames⦠It makes me question the leader he is. Leaders take responsibility. I really think heās a good guy, but it frustrates me that heās held up as a great leader with what seems to be this flaw.
I hear ya. But the same discussion is happening in both threads.
Agreed. The close losses are washed out by the close wins. We had 6 one possession wins as well.
We did finish in the top half - 5th out of 11. Nothing to brag about since the record was a sub .500 9-11 but goal accomplished as far as the standings go.
Yeah we did, but I was just getting at is that really the goal we had set?
And we lost a few at the end. But ended up top 5 because everyone else lost too. We could have ended up third from last but everyone else helped us. 2 games out of tied for second to last.
Certainly hope there were other goals. Just reading about Utah State and Ryan Odom is quoted as saying the teamās goal LAST summer was to play for a Mountain West title this season. And there they are in Las Vegas as I type this doing just that!
Agreed. 5 years in if your goal at the start of the year is to finish in the top half of a bad leagueā¦what message does that send to the team? Thatās all you believe in them?
In the same way he says āitās not about wins and lossesā the team adopts the personality of the coach.
The team certainly plays like itās not about wins and lossesā¦and they also play like a team who is satisfied finishing 5th in a bad conference.
At 5 yearsā¦the goal every year should be to win the league. If notā¦wtf are we doing??
BS. You defend Ron on the hour pal

But most of us ARE better at our own jobs than Ron is at his.
At this point I believe if he isnāt fired itās due to financials.
If thatās the case I can live with it till heās finally gone.
FWIW, see that three UofL freshmen - the entire 2022 class - plan on entering the portal when it officially opens on the 13th.
I think if Ron stays it is more about Hillās pride and delusion he is a good coach.
